22.01.2022 For the next 30 days (from 7 August), all poultry keepers - even those with just two or three chickens or birds are required by law to keep their birds housed... in the Golden Plains Shire Council. Where possible, move birds into a suitable building, like a shed or outbuilding adapted to house them, or a new temporary structure. Put netting over openings to stop wild birds getting in. If you cannot keep your birds housed, you must take other steps to separate your poultry and their food and drink away from wild birds. 22.01.2022 Now is the time to act and prepare. Remember, we can not have a fire truck at every property when it’s needed It’s also YOUR choice on when to stay and when to go
20.01.2022 Anakie CFA update Earlier this year Daily Orders donated $6800 to Anakie Fire Brigade as part of a Bushfire relief package. We are extremely proud to have r...eceived this update yesterday! Thank you to everyone in our community who helped make this happen for the Anakie community Kelly ______ We have removed a massive safety concern in our brigade by now being able to refill our trucks in the safety of our station rather than being on the edge of a busy road. The donation you provided enabled us to complete the concreting and plumbing works, with the help of Simco Plumbing. The concrete pad allows us to roll up hoses and stow on the trucks with out getting them covered in mud and debris. Once again thank you and your customers for the wonderful donation, keeping our brigade members safe.

11.01.2022 Throughout the fire danger period, Victorians who own properties in bushfire prone areas are encouraged and, in some instances, required to undertake fire prepa...redness activities. Activities include cutting grass, clearing gutters, removing growth from around any dwellings and generally removing fuel from the property to reduce the risks of bushfire. If you live in metropolitan Melbourne and own property in regional Victoria, you can only travel to that property if you have been issued with a Fire Prevention Notice requiring you to undertake fire preparedness work, or if you have received local council permission to travel for fire or emergency preparedness activities on that property. If you live in metropolitan Melbourne you cannot travel to regional Victoria to help your family members or friends prepare their property, unless they are elderly or infirm and you are their caregiver. If you live in metropolitan Melbourne you can travel to your second property, holiday home or business to repair damage caused by an emergency. You should carry with you evidence of property ownership and, if available, evidence of damage (i.e. photos, insurance claim etc). The support shown for our volunteers was overwhelming and we are plea...sed to announce how we are distributing $20.5m. Highlights include millions of dollars for brigade equipment, a new leadership and development program for volunteers, ten mobile community education vans and mobile tablets for online volunteer learning and training. Donations given to specific brigades are also being spent on ultralight tankers, field command vehicles and other items needed to support our brigades. 02.01.2022 As the last of the state’s fire restrictions are lifted today, we officially mark the end of our fire season. It was a challenging season for all Victorians, a...nd the total burnt area across the state was the highest since the Black Friday fires of 1939. We thank all Victorians for their ongoing support and encouragement, throughout this season and into the future.
01.01.2022 On this day 75 years ago, CFA began as the single firefighting authority for country Victoria. Throughout the years, many aspects of our organisation have chang...ed, from our vehicles and clothing to the roles our crews undertake within communities. But our mission has always remained the same: protecting lives and property.
01.01.2022 UPDATE. TOMORROW 20TH NOVEMBER AT 1PM-3PM. RICHARD RIORDAN HAS INVITED THE SHODOW MINISTER FOR EMERGENCY SERVICES TO VIEW THE TOWER AND DISCUSS THE SITUATION. ...WE AS A COMMUNITY NEED TO SHOW OUR SUPPORT. What is suggested is that concerned community members line the sides of Mooleric Road. PLEASE OBSERVE CURRENT COVID RESTRICTIONS. PARK SAFELY. Today we have had word that Mt Gellibrand fire tower will not be in use this upcoming fire season and will be decommissioned. This was not a decision from CFA. Taking away Mt Gellibrand fire tower leaves a huge gap and will be a huge loss for CFA as an early detection. There are also fire lookout towers, which form part of an early warning fire system, at Peters Hill, Mt Anakie and Mt Gellibrand Now Decommissioned . Not all towers can see each area and Peters hill can not see passed Mt Gellibrand leaving Hesse, Wingeel and all of District 6 (Colac and beyond) in a black spot area. Bushfire detection methods can be generally grouped into two distinct categories: 1. Volunteer reporting-public reporting (Triple 0), public aircraft, ground based field staff (agency and industry field staff) 2. Operational detection systems: fire towers, aerial patrols, electronic lightning detectors, automatic detection systems. A fire tower can form part of the decision on the outbreak of a fire and is critical to the immediate decision making process involved in initiating suppression. They can tell us how quick it is building, the direction its heading in, any possible homes in the way. All this gets taken into account even before trucks arrive. At this stage there is no plans to replace or repair the tower. So you tell me how you feel about this.
01.01.2022 Several fires burning currently. Don’t add to them
