And also a massive thank you for the all the kind reviews on the travel pages! We take a lot of pride in our beautiful park and it makes it so worthwhile that you all love it to! 12.01.2022 "TOMAHAWK TIGER" Sapphire The Tomahawk Tiger is the name given to an 82.4ct natural sapphire crystal, so named for the magnificent colour bands and the area fo...und. In 1976, the Bennett Family were fossicking at the "Featherbed Run" diggings on the Tomahawk Creek Fossicking Area and unearthed this unrivaled "dogs tooth" crystal. (tapered 6 sided crystal) This unique masterpiece has the natural beauty of the tiger stripes as well as being a magnificent orange colour when viewed down the crystal. The gem went to Auction at Gemfest in 1989 (2nd Gemfest) The reserve was $15,000 and the gem sold for $28,000 to a part time miner from SA. In 1998,the gem reemerged. Gemfest displayed this a number of times during the early 2000s. The Gem changed owners a number of times at ever increasing prices and is now part of the Richardson Collection where it is affectionately known as "Tom" The Tomahawk Tiger will be on display at Anakie From the 8th-11th August. In all $150.00 was donated which included Leonies $66.00 footie tipping competition win. Thanks go to our guest for organising such a great night.
