21.01.2022 Forest Fire Management Victoria advises a planned burning will be carried out on Box Hill Track, 10klm NW of Anakie from 1100hrs on 20 October to 1700 hrs on 22 October, weather permitting. Smoke may be visible for some days thereafter.

16.01.2022 From tomorrow (Tuesday 4 August) reusable face masks available at $10 each. Made locally with cotton, according to Department of Health and Human Services requirements. Can be purchased Tuesday 4 and Wednesday 5 August only, between 10am and 4pm.

She hasn’t been too well lately and although she doesn’t use social media, I’m sure her family will show her all your messages. Here’s the first: Hi, Lyn, you crazy, funny lady. We all miss you and wish you nothing but the best. One good thing about being house-bound, you don’t have to mask up and go around feeling half blind, with a muffled voic...e, sweating and, for those with hearing aids, feeling deafer than ever. So kick back and enjoy being looked after - you’ve looked after plenty of lonely people and kept so many of us entertained with your humour, that at least now you can have a little break. 10.01.2022 To all mothers- have a happy iso Mother’s Day; a very different day, but one you will always remember.

07.01.2022 As we approach the last week of term, a happy and safe festive season is the message to all. The groups which were are to restart a few weeks ago will now have their last get together for 2020. A special goodbye to the dear little 3 & 4 year old activity group children, who did not have nearly as much time and fun as they should have had. A jumping slide will be provided for them on Tuesday (thank you City if Greater Geelong for approving our small grant application) and other children of the district are welcome to use it right up to 4.45pm. If all goes well, the community house will reopen in late January. An Anakie Advocate will have more information and should be distributed by the end of January.

06.01.2022 If you have concerns about any local roads, including surface condition, dangerous verges, obscuring trees or scrub, potholes or other problems, see the March edition of the Anakie Advocate. Copies are available at Anakie General Store or on the Anakie Community House webpage or they can be viewed on the noticeboard in the car park at the community house and the noticeboard near the telephone box at the general store. With input from residents, results may be achieved.

06.01.2022 Warning! Car stolen from corner Butcher’s and Sawpit Gully Roads yesterday (Friday), while owner was having a walk. Police have been notified.

04.01.2022 If all goes well in the next two weeks, the community house will be opening for some extra classes and activities from Monday 13 July. An Anakie Advocate is expected to be delivered locally in the next week with more details. Strict COVID-19 practices are in place and visitor and participant numbers reduced, due to social distancing constraints. We look forward to welcoming everyone back. It has been a long wait!

02.01.2022 Yay! We are open again. Monday 10 to 11am Pilates. Monday 11am to 1pm all-ages (yep, babies welcome) playgroup. Monday 6 to 7pm group exercise. Tuesday 9.30 to 11am yoga. ... Tuesday 11.30am to 1pm 3 & 4 year old activity group. Tuesday 1.30 to 3.30pm art. Wednesday 1.30 to 3.30pm craft, sewing, knitting, patchwork, whatever ... Thursday between 10am and 2pm hairdressing. Thursday 12.15 to 1.15pm community lunches. Thursday 19 2to 4pm book group - bring your own book/s to discuss or just come for the company and chat. All previous COVID-19 restrictions in place. 01.01.2022 There has been no internet to many homes and businesses in the Anakie district for the past two weeks. Numerous complaints to Telstra are achieving nothing. The date for reconnection is pushed forward daily. The Geelong Advertiser was contacted today, but whether they follow this remains to be seen. Perhaps the only way for some action is to flood social media - and so ... please share this.
