25.01.2022 I would just like to open some discussion on the Anti-Reclaim rally, particularly the Adelaide one, as that is the one I was there for. The turn out was good, but not as good as what we had hoped for. I think more advertising in advance will be needed before the next rally, bring more over to our side of the rally. However, I know that ASS is generally opposed to wasteful paper-advertising, so perhaps some other alternatives could be thought up. Another thing, the anti-Recla...im side of the rally needed more colour, more noise (gunna buy klaxons and whistles before the next rally) more banners, more signs, more rainbow, more glitter. One thing I have to give Reclaim-Nazis is that their side at least got their message out there in this regard. The vast majority of them had flags, signs, or both. Our side was not as good. The radicals that came to the rally did pull their weight, but I did notice a lot of people standing in the crowd, not chanting, not making noise, just standing there passively, so hopefully handing them some whistles might invite more participation? -El

17.01.2022 This is not a neutral action. The ridiculous public statement by Victoria Police FORCE suggest it was an error in a moment of madness. Bullshit. The idea of "ne...utrality" by the police force is a central tenet and apparently important. In the "Victoria Police Manual Professional and Ethical Standards it clearly specifies that Victoria Police FORCE officers must behave with integrity and "impartiality". This photograph is clear evidence that at best this particular Officer was not neutral but at worst that there's a culture of political impartiality. I am convinced of the latter particularly in light of the OC been used indiscriminately on antifascists & the completely immoral OC spray of medics, the people they were treating and those who were helping medics treat severely affected people. #VictoriaPolice #Melbourne https://www.police.vic.gov.au/retrievemedia.asp

05.01.2022 Any crisis contains elements of danger and opportunity. Syriza in Greece, with the capitulation by its 'moderate' leaders to the demands of International creditors now finds itself in a crisis, being split by the very real issue of being about to enforce the austerity measures its platform opposes and seeks to end. It is quite clear why this horrific, inhuman system must be dismantled. Workers in Greece already work for almost nothing, if they even have a job, and yet further... reductions in wages, in living standards are being demanded and accepted. If the opposition to capitulation doesn't go far enough, then the Greeks face a truly bleak future. However the opportunity still does remain for a deeply radicalizing struggle to launch in opposition to enforced austerity, for a dignified independence won through struggle and for an unprecedented victory of the left in the west. https://www.jacobinmag.com//tsipras-euro-debt-default-gre/

03.01.2022 Protests against Syriza government led capitulation to international creditors. The capitulation is facing open condemnation from within the party itself. An English translation of open letter signed by majority (109 of 201) of the Syriza central committee:... ON JULY 12, a coup was carried out in Brussels. A coup which proved that the goal of the European leaders was to make an example of a people who had the vision of a different path, away and beyond the neoliberal model of extreme austerity. A coup that takes aim at any notion of democracy and popular sovereignty. The agreement with the "institutions" was the result of the blackmailing of the country through economic strangulation. It is a new Memorandum, with onerous and humiliating terms of supervision, disastrous for the country and our people. We realize that suffocating pressure was put on the Greek side in the negotiations, but nevertheless, we believe that the people's proud "no" vote in the referendum must forbid the government from succumbing to the extortionate ultimatums of the creditors. This agreement is not compatible with the ideas and the principles of the left. But most importantly, it is not compatible with the needs of the working class and the popular masses. This proposal cannot be accepted by the members and the cadres of SYRIZA. We ask for the Central Committee to convene immediately, and we call on the members, cadres and members of parliament of SYRIZA to stand for the unity of the party on the basis of our Congress decisions and our programmatic commitments.
