25.01.2022 Congratulations to Ms Natasha Stott Despoja AO on her election to the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women. It is the fir...st time we have had an Australian on this important body since the Hon Elizabeth Evatt AC, who served almost 30 years ago. Australia has a proud record of advocacy on gender equality. It is great to see such a champion on the rights of women and girls representing Australia on the international stage. 23.01.2022 I want to congratulate the National Council of Women Australia (NCWA) on successfully conducting a Zoom Forum on the 16th Oct 2020. Despite all the obstacles to... get everyone to meet and understand the current policies and budget available to help families and women during this challenging time, this forum is very informative and helpful for the organisations in providing community services. Minister Ruston has provided information on the current budget that assists women's economic participation, access to study and entrepreneurship training, services available to help women facing domestic violence and homelessness. All speakers are excellent in presenting their areas of expertise. I am glad to represent our organisation, the Australian National Chinese Women's Federation, in presenting our organisation and current projects to help our community. Congratulate Elizabeth Wang from the Asian Australian Women Association for presenting her association and talk about racism in society. Thanks again to NCWA for providing this platform for everyone to meet and understand the current policies in place. See more

20.01.2022 Today, I joined the Prime Minister Scott Morrison (ScoMo) at Our Watch’s virtual #IDEVAW event with the Parliamentary Friendship Group, marking International Da...y for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Australia joins our partners around the world to support UN Women’s commitment to stop all forms of violence against women and girls. Addressing gender-based violence is a pillar of Australia’s COVID-19 response #PartnershipsForRecovery. Gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls is one of our core development priorities. Domestic and family violence have increased during the pandemic, for both Australia and our neighbours in the Indo-pacific. We are working hard against this trend, mindful that our region has some of the highest rates of intimate partner violence in the world. I was honoured to participate in another virtual event today as Fiji launched consultations for the development of its own National Action Plan to Prevent Violence Against Women and Girls. I commend Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama and Minister Vuniwaqa for bringing this complex and difficult subject into the open. Now, more than ever, coming together to end violence against women and girls is key to creating a more gender-equal and inclusive world. 02.01.2022 The Australian National Chinese Women’s Federation (ANCWF) stopped everything at 11 o’clock this morning during their fitness exercise class held at the Southport Community Centre to honour Remembrance Day for all soldiers killed in any war in any country since the beginning of time. Remembrance Day is held each year in Australia and New Zealand to commemorate their dead at Gallipoli in the Great War of 1914-1918. Peace was signed between all countries involved at exactly 11...am on the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. At exactly 11:00 am women from nations such as China, Korea, Russia, Japan, Malaysia and Australia sat and bowed their heads in silence and tribute in the hall at Southport. More than 102,000 young Australian and New Zealand men sacrificed their lives for their country in the Great War. We will remember them. See more
