16.01.2022 Some awesome camera trap images from a Stewardship Site that we have recently been working on on the NSW Mid-North Coast. The site was thick with koalas. Songmeters recorded the male Koalas bellowing all night, every night. This particular tree was a busy location over the study.

16.01.2022 What's in a name. Check out the colours in these Red Bloodwood (Corymbia gummifera) at Gwandalan these week, with a bit of rain the colour of the sap really comes out. Red Bloodwood are an important food resource for many fauna species with the sap being an absolute favourite for Squirrel Gliders and Sugar Gliders. The image of the Sugar Glider was captured near Thornton last week.

16.01.2022 Hey peeps, time for a post about #conservation and #fundraising. This weekend Ian Benson and Dennis Neader from AEP, along with Bruce Watts will be participating in this year’s Twitchathon. The objective of the weekend is to see the maximum possible number of species of birds in a 30 hour period. The ultimate goal for #TheJaegerJagerMeisters is to have a laugh and raise some serious funds for #conservation efforts for the #RegentHoneyeater. To donate visit https://www.mycaus...e.com.au//187206/the-jaeger-jagermeisters A few small incentives are on offer for those that can donate a little bit more: - For $50 donations: a jar of Denzo's home-made Chilli Jam; - For $100 donations: 100g of premium homemade JaegerJagerMeister homestyle Beef Jerky (RRP: Priceless); - For $250 donations: personally guided tour for two people to visit Regent Honeyeaters within the next 12 months. Most likely in the Lower Hunter Valley; - For $1000 corporate donation: personally guided tour for up to eight staff members to visit Regent Honeyeaters within the next 12 months. A great team building exercise. Also recognition as a corporate sponsor within social media posts and trip summary. The Regent Honeyeater is a species that is really struggling for survival. With a population estimate of around 400 birds, they are listed as Critically Endangered. They are limited to just a small number of sites where they are reported on an annual basis. Earlier this year the species went for a period of nearly 6 months where there was not a single report anywhere in Australia. The Hunter Valley remains a seasonal strong hold for the species. Further information on where the fundraising money will go can be found here. https://www.birdlifetwitchathon.org.au//twitchathon-new-so Photo credit: Mick Roderick

06.01.2022 Cracking Friday morning at Earthcare Park for Hunter Birding survey. Found this 1m Red-bellied Black soaking up the winter sun. Looks like it needs a feed.

06.01.2022 The AEP crew have been busy late last year and early this year installing nest boxes adjacent to a proposed residential subdivision. These boxes are constructed of 18mm marine ply to ensure longevity.

04.01.2022 A few spectacular flowers (or soon to be flowers) from around the traps this spring.
