No water garden is amazing and easy to maintain, some of these plants have been an absolute picture during spring, some are about to burst into summer amazingness! 01.01.2022 For Remembrance Day I have a little story to share. It’s not a war hero story. This is Clifford Christensen, the father and grandfather we never knew. He was an American soldier serving in England towards the end of world war 2, he fell in love with my nana Margaret(he was the love of her life), however shortly after promising to marry her he was sent back to America. Margaret was pregnant with my mum and eagerly awaited his return to raise a family and to have a happily ever... after story. Sadly this was not to be, he never returned, leaving Margaret to raise a child as a single mother. Now in 1946 this was frowned upon, so she changed her surname and wore a wedding ring, raised her daughter Susan as best she could with her father in a loving and modest home. Years later mum (Sue) found she had a half brother in Oklahoma, she visited and discovered that Clifford had started a family shortly after returning to America... none of the family knew that Sue or Margaret had existed. So I guess it’s a human story of the ones left behind after the war and I’m glad as otherwise I wouldn’t have been born!! See more
