20.01.2022 The article about breeding naturally breech strike resistant merinos in the latest AWI Beyond the Bale magazine asks if it is possible to find sires that are productive and high wool cutters as well as having all the traits of fly strike resistance. Out of 2641 eligible sires (current sires with >15 progeny) there is just ONE in the whole Merinoselect database that is a trait leader (top 10%) for Wrinkle, Dag, Adult fleece weight, and the MP+ index. Just one.... Out of curiosity i ran that same search myself. Who is it? It's an Anderson Ram. Anderson 160729 And he's also a trait leader for post weaning weight, yearling weight, worm resistance, staple length and staple strength and DP+ index. He has progeny in our upcoming ram sale.
