In males this is called castration and in females it is called spaying.... . But why?? Desexing not only helps to ensure fewer unwanted and homeless animals, but also research shows that desexed animals can actually live longer and healthier lives. . Reduces risk of many cancers: mammary, testicular, ovarian, prostate. Desexed dogs are less likely to scent mark by urinating on things. Prevents female dogs having a blood vaginal discharge when they are on heat/in season and male dogs attempting vigorously to get to females in heat. Desexing eliminates the risks involved with your pet being pregnant, giving birth, and raising young. Young that may be unwanted in the first place. . As I said this is my opinion. Many dog owners wrongly assume its safe to give their pets human painkillers such as ibuprofen or paracetamol, but this is not the case.... Ibuprofen, for example, is toxic to dogs. As little as 25mg/kg can cause many many problems such as tummy ulcers, vomiting, diarrhoea ... stay away from the ibuprofen, while paracetamol can also be highly dangerous if the wrong dosage is given. Thats because the acid in vinegar is not strong enough to penetrate the shell of flea eggs or larvae never mind kill the actual adult fleas.... And while adult fleas may not prefer a dog covered in apple cider vinegar, they certainly wont jump off of their food source and die in response to a spritz. Flea prevention is about sterilizing or killing the flea eggs and larvae. Without that step, fleas will continue to multiply. Since apple cider vinegar does nothing to address those life stages, it is an ineffective homemade flea spray. The term Kennel Cough refers to a group of contagious symptoms of an upper respiratory infection and not one particular illness. While most veterinarians use a multivalent vaccine that offers protection from the bacteria Bordetella, as well as the virus parainfluenza, there are additional viruses and bacteria that can cause canine cough symptoms that the vaccine does not ...cover! It is upsetting when your dog contracts an upper respiratory cough even after vaccination. It is possible that your dog may have come into contact with different contagious germs that the vaccine did not cover. Keep in mind that if the infection was a virus, antibiotics may not have offered much treatment, but probably addressed or prevented a secondary bacterial infection. The good news is the far majority of upper respiratory coughs are very mild and pups recover quickly, similar to the common cold in pet parents.
