22.01.2022 FIRE NEWS JAN 2020 A message from The Australian Ceramics Association Board and staff regarding the terrible fires... We are very sorry that some in our Austral...ian ceramics community have suffered severe losses with many still under threat from the ongoing bushfire emergency. We have been contacted by many members expressing concern along with a wish to help those impacted. We will be in touch with those who are affected and seek information from them to find the best way to help them directly. Link: https://www.australianceramics.com///06/fire-news-jan-2019 [Please ignore the 2019 mistake in the link .... the link still works]. Various projects are currently being planned, mostly to make it possible for potters to fundraise for charities by donating pots. I will update this page during January and via our social media channels once these opportunities are confirmed. 14.01.2022 TRUER WORDS NEVER WRITTEN | Bravo to Ted Snell @tedsnell who continues to champion the arts with his eloquent and impassioned words in today’s Opinion in The We...st Australian The already challenged arts sector has indeed ‘been mauled’. As I read this article this morning in the paper I reflected that the arts in many guises - books, music, podcasts, visual arts, streaming services and many more have irrefutably reduced anxiety, lifted and maintained our spirits during this period of pandemic enforced lockdown. Our industry needs funding, support and to be valued as an integral part of the fabric of a rounded and vital society in order to move forward with confidence. Thank you Ted for spreading this urgent and important cultural messageART MATTERS See more

13.01.2022 Cant wait for Saturday to see the exhibition!

10.01.2022 In England one sometimes encounters these "wavy" brick fences. And curious as it may seem, this shape uses FEWER bricks than a straight fence. That's because a... straight fence that is just one brick thick is not sturdy enough to stand alone and can be easily toppled with a determined push. For that reason straight fences always have a thickness of at least two layers of bricks and often more, and are also reinforced at regular intervals with vertical posts serving as buttresses. But a wavy "one-brick" fence stands just fine on its own due to the arch support provided by its shape, which combines both fence and buttress.

06.01.2022 Guided Glazing Tutorial is now online!!! We have done it! We have recorded and published our first video tutorial. This tutorial is aimed at beginners at ClayMa...ke Studio; as our casual classes were abruptly paused, some of our students were left in limbo unable to glaze and finish their work. We have recorded the Guided Glazing Tutorial so you can get the instruction on the website, and then come to the studio and glaze your work. As always, Emma or Andrea will be there to help, but we hope that our Online Guided Glazing Tutorial will explain the process and give you enough information and confidence to come and glaze your work. Looking forward to seeing you soon at ClayMake! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=huT26C-Dj7M&t=37s See more
