25.01.2022 On behalf of the Labor Party I say happy Diwali to everyone around Australia who is celebrating the festival of lights.
23.01.2022 More needs to be done to help Australians stranded overseas get home safely. Scott Morrison promised to have Australians home by Christmas. But almost 37,000 Australians are stuck overseas, including 8,000 people considered vulnerable.
22.01.2022 Happy Sunday morning, everyone. More good news to start the day to, thanks to all for playing their part. Today, the Premier will be making some significant announcements about changes to restrictions along the path to covid-normal. I’ll post these as soon as I can.
22.01.2022 Lest We Forget.
22.01.2022 My thoughts today are with Australia's Ethiopian community, following the full-scale humanitarian crisis that has been unfolding in the Tigray region of Ethiopia.
21.01.2022 Big changes announced today. Well done, everyone on contributing to us getting to this point. Let’s enjoy these relaxations but keep our focus on staying safe, looking after one another, and finishing the job.
20.01.2022 Thirteen days of double zero. Just amazing, and so great.
20.01.2022 A big shout out to all the kids back at sport for the first time in so long - much excitement about netball and cricket in my house! And wonderful another day of no new cases. Enjoy this weekend Melbourne, and stay safe.
20.01.2022 More good news to start Sunday, before I head to Canberra for parliament.
20.01.2022 We did this - two cycles, no cases. Well done everyone!
16.01.2022 Another great morning: our 26th day of no new cases! I’m never getting bored of this.
15.01.2022 This is an extraordinary achievement.
09.01.2022 Scott Morrison wants to cut your superannuation.
09.01.2022 A full-scale humanitarian crisis is unfolding in the Tigray region of Ethiopia, where 50 Australians citizens are located. The situation is grave, and rapidly deteriorating. The UN is preparing for 200,000 refugees to flee. ... The world cannot stand by and watch, neither can Australia. I urge all parties to protect civilians, respect human rights and allow access to humanitarian agencies.
07.01.2022 For seven years New Zealand has offered to take people who are currently in detention in PNG and Nauru - and for seven years the Government has refused. Enough is enough.
07.01.2022 Mathias Cormann gets flown around Europe in Air Force jets to try and get himself a new job. Yet, 35,000 Australians are still stranded overseas. Wrong priorities.
07.01.2022 Steve Bracks and Jenny Macklin have done a huge, and vitally important job, in restoring integrity to how Victorian Labor operates. All true believers owe them our thanks - and we need to recognise the decisive leadership of Daniel Andrews and Anthony Albanese, in standing up for Labor values when they were under threat. Now, we must secure these foundations, and build a larger, more diverse and dynamic party of integrity, vision and values.... https://www.theguardian.com//labor-revokes-1700-victorian-
06.01.2022 Insecure work is a crisis we must confront. As Daniel Andrews is doing, with this critical initiative - which federal Labor fully supports. Of course, this should be the responsibility of our national government but not only have they failed to stand up for workers, Christian Porter has the gall to criticise Victorian Labor!
05.01.2022 Too many Australians feel lonely. And this damaging health, and lives. We need to treat this as the crisis that it is - and as a public policy priority.... So I’m proud to be part of this launch, and the work behind it. Let’s end loneliness, together.
04.01.2022 Thanks to Steve Bracks and Jenny Macklin for doing this difficult, confronting but vital work. And to Daniel Andrews and Anthony Albanese for their decisive leadership. We all now have the chance, and the responsibility, to stand up for Labor’s values and our mission.
03.01.2022 I'm looking forward to this event tonight - if you'd like to attend please email [email protected] by 7pm to receive the Zoom meeting link.
01.01.2022 The 14 day rolling average is now zero! Another day, with no new coronavirus cases reported overnight. This has been an incredible achievement by Victorians, against the virus.... Deep appreciation to everyone - the Premier, chief health officer, essential workers and all of us, who’ve made good decisions and sacrifices to get here.
