25.01.2022 Update on tennis coaching: I hope you and your families are staying safe during this strange time. We have been strongly advised by the governing body Tennis Australia and consequently Tennis Qld to cease all coaching. This includes all lessons from groups to private lessons. The government has said to only make necessary trips and to limit the interaction to 2 people. While a private lesson could take the latter of this statement into account, it doesnt take the former. ... I have spoken at length to the heads of our governing body of TA coaches. They have said not to go out and coach explaining that in a worst case scenario that if someone was to test positive, they would be asked what they have done in the past days, and coaching not being essential, I could be getting a knock at the door. It is also a grey area with regards to my insurance being valid for coaching after TA and TQ have sent strong recommendations to cease all coaching. What does this mean for the lessons that are still to be done from Term 1 with rain and Missed lessons in the last 2 weeks of term, and also for future lessons? We will be extremely excited to get you all outside and start coaching at all levels again once this pandemic is deemed to be flattened. Once this happens, we will make a plan with how to approach the lessons owing for all groups, squads and privates from Term 1 and also ongoing lessons. In the mean time, I am working on some homework for you all to do, and will be putting up videos links via FB/email/Instagram. Please take some time to go over these with your child so that once we get back to coaching, they will have a better understanding of what they need to do.

22.01.2022 Important Fixtures Notice for Today. Hi Everyone, i have just been sent through an update by Tennis Australia in regards to the COVID-19 virus. Unfortunately all SCTL fixtures will be cancelled for Saturday morning 14th March. I will keep you all informed if future rounds are also to be cancelled. C Please see below the statement from TA. Statement from Tennis Australia and its Member Associations... Effective immediately Tennis Australia and its Member Associations are postponing all Tennis operated events, competitions and tournaments until further notice. Tennis has made the decision to take further precautions in the interest of the health and wellbeing of our community. Our goal is to avoid bringing crowds together in order to help contain the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) and minimise the inevitable strain on our healthcare system. This decision is based on expert medical advice and is in line with the recommendations of the global tennis community. This decision means that the event you are scheduled to play in this weekend has been postponed until further notice. We realise this may cause inconvenience in the short-term however, our objective is ensuring our community remains healthy and strong. We will continue to keep you updated and thank you for your cooperation during this difficult time for all of us.

18.01.2022 Day 2 2021 of sharing our core beliefs. Winning/losing can be great/tough. Our Academy approach is filled with the lessons that these moments can teach us, rather than the result.

18.01.2022 Ok so weve been experiencing a little rain which has postponed our lessons. If you love tennis as much as we do then try working on these at home. Ball toss:... Set a target on the ground (a racquet head length away from your front foot on a 45degree angle to your right is a good guide). Toss the ball with a straight ball toss arm and wrist (no bending from the elbow or wrist). Try to develop a consistent speed rhythm. Get a feel also for the height of the tossat a minimum, if you extend your racquet to the sky, the toss should go at least to the top of your racquet. No low easy tosses, and also no crazy high ones. Keep it simple. Challenge yourself to land the ball on the racquet strings. I have 10 balls and this is my results. 7/10. Let me know your results. In the video youll notice I had a black cat distraction that put my ball toss way off. Lucky it isnt Friday the 13th. All jokes aside, Its important to be able to focus even when distractions of any kind come up. Get a parent or friend or annoying brother/sister to try to distract you without knocking the ball or touching you, and see if you can focus even through that distraction. Practice this and youll be serving aces in no time! Footwork: Skipping, high knees on the spot, and side to side jumping over a marker will all help keep you on your toes and avoid being flat-footed! Abdominal work: Strength through your core not only prevents injury but will give you greater control and power off your ground strokes and serve. Try bridges, crunches, push-ups and sit-ups, and watch that six-pack develop and your groundstroke speed increase!
