14.01.2022 RBA RATE ANNOUNCEMENT At its first meeting for 2016, the Reserve Bank has kept the official cash rate on hold at 2.0%. The decision is not surprising as the RBA continues to monitor the impact the Christmas and New Year period had on the local economy. Economists remain divided about whether the next rate change will be up or down, however all agree they are likely to remain steady through the first quarter of this year.... 13.01.2022 Attention: First home buyers! The Victorian government recently announced changes that will help first home buyers get into the property market. As of July 1st, stamp duty has been abolished for first home buyers purchasing up to $600,000 - which is a significant saving. There are also discounts for purchases between $600,000 and $750,000.... Secondly, the government has doubled the first home owners grant to $20,000 for REGIONAL first home buyers who opt to BUILD their first home. I have noticed that there is some confusion about how and what these incentives can be used for - notably, that the $20,000 grant is not applicable if you purchase an EXISTING home.
