17.01.2022 Nindarra, Gill and Nikki from Aboriginal Education Services visited our school on Tuesday as part of our NAIDOC week celebrations. The students explored the cultural significance of ochre then had the opportunity to create artworks. They ground ochre into its powder form before mixing with water to create the paint for their art works. The students also learnt the importance of native animals to Aboriginal people and many chose to paint native animals with their ochre. Thank you so much for coming to visit our school!

16.01.2022 4/5AF now have a class duckling and they didnt even have to go out and find one it came to them! This Tuesday they were all settled into their maths lesson and then saw a little duckling standing all alone at their door. After a long search for the mother duck (with no luck) 4/5AF have adopted the duckling and are now brainstorming possible names for their new pet.

07.01.2022 Staff and students would like to acknowledge one of our very special staff members, Alicia Heine. For those of you who dont know Alicia yet, she is our amazing environmental & sustainability co-ordinator here at Andrews Creek. Her passion for the environment and all living things is inspiring and she achieves so much in her 2 days a week with us. Alicia has successfully applied for grants to help maintain our creek/garden area and has established recycling and composting in all classrooms. She also organises engaging environmental workshops for students, all while running our Friends of nature personal interest groups on Fridays and the class Creek lessons each Tuesday! 04.01.2022 ACPS were the very lucky winners of a recent Facebook competition, winning a free one day workshop with Robot Man. Thanks Mrs Boskell for entering us! During the first session, 3/4R used Lego Mindstorms to create some sumo-wrestling battle bots. In the second session, 1/2BH controlled some awesome Dash robots by drawing paths on iPads. They also played a couple of games, including tag and soccer. 2/3P worked with Robot Man after lunch and they participated in two a...ctivities. They used modular robotic cubes called Cubelets to create their own little robots with lights, speakers, wheels and rotators which were all controlled by different sensors such as light and distance sensors. Then they played a game of soccer with Dash. Students were highly engaged and enjoyed the opportunity of participating in a hands on, digital technologies workshop. We would highly recommend Robot Man to other schools looking for a great robotics incursion. Thank you so much Robot Man, we hope to see you again! See more
