20.01.2022 Creative engineering still happens, and here at Andromeda at Moonbi, some of my engineering crew, Jason Waterhouse, Sam Oliphant and David Brown today manufactured a very large steel sling. (with Annette Williams hidden behind the steel cable) This will be used in Melbourne, to lower the tunnel boring machines down a deep shaft to make a new tunnel under the city. Some of the parts weigh over one hundred tonnes, and slings like this are trusted to support them being lowered into place. Making such slings is quite a responsibility, because a failure of one of these would cause almost incalculable damage, including fatalities.
