24.01.2022 My other babies finally off to their forever home today. New Andy B’s Mowing head quarters to be installed in the fern gardens where they will remain hopefully for ever. I am yet to decide where at the new premises the Ginkgo Biloba will settle as even though it must close to twenty years old we’re yet to confirm if it is a male or female. #birdnestfern #ginkgobiloba

23.01.2022 Big thanks to @lilydalelawn for our beenies! Great colours! #lawnie #lawniesofinstagram #mtwaverley

23.01.2022 Watch this space! Part 6.

23.01.2022 Gotta love the ones that bloom!

23.01.2022 Gotta love it when the new stuff still fits the old stuff!!! Thanks shindaiwa! So many of the manufacturers these days bring out stuff that forces you to buy new stuff thats compatible and throw away your old gear. Was very happy to find out the old multi tool fittings fit the new model multi tool. #shindaiwa #mtwaverley #gardener #lawnie #lawncare

22.01.2022 I guess I dont do much installation work so its always exciting. These four young ladies are going to their forever home tomorrow at a lovely retirement village we maintain. #backyardbliss #gardener #mtwaverley #gardening #foreverhome #gardenersofmelbourne

22.01.2022 Not to down play being safe during COVID but remember to be safe always and considerate of others. Sometimes your ignorant actions can have catastrophic consequences for others. Pictured is large screw we picked up in the blocking plate of a zero turn mower. This was found while mowing a public park. Someone had just thoughtlessly thrown it into the grass. Imagine if we had the shoot open and someone was walking past or brush cutting nearby and that hit them! There are a lot of us on this planet and because of that we all need to take more care, be more considerate and do our best to see the consequences of our actions. Peace out #keepsafe

22.01.2022 Never underestimate how a little modification can make your life easier. 2minute job, piece of aluminium angle to stop tools falling off the top shelf. #whydidntidoitearlier

22.01.2022 Mask on, ready to keep working through Covid-19. #mtwaverley #lawnie #gardenersofmelbourne

21.01.2022 Happy days. The Cat brand was always around when I was growing up. My father was a civil engineer and he used to bring me home Cat diesel power caps. They probably started my hat wearing (most people havent ever seen me without a hat on.) The best memory was going over to one of my dads bosses places and he had die cast models of every piece of Cat machinery available. Got to play with them for hours. #happydays #catdieselpower #gardener #liriope #lawnie #lawnie #mtwaverley

21.01.2022 Lawn mowed and painted.

21.01.2022 Have been wanting to do a photo shoot for my business for years. Finally we took some time today to lay the equipment out and photograph it. Havent got the photos the guys took yet but heres a video that sums it up nicely. I figure its a nice snap shot of my business at the 11 year mark. #mtwaverley #localgardener #lawnie #lawncare #lawn #lawncaremillionaire #lawnatic #lawnmaintenance #lawnmower #gardener #gardenersofinstagram #gardenersofmelbourne #aussiesofinstagram

19.01.2022 Sometimes you just have to cut them off, drill them and give them the drink of death. Didn’t want to go busting that pipe to get it out!

18.01.2022 Took this photo today because it was the first time wed ever had the whole street to ourselves, not a single parked car! My client says its actually the first time shes ever seen it since 1957!!!!

17.01.2022 Weird picture hey? Well this is where a car drove through a hedge we maintain!!! Hard to believe it fitted until I assessed the damage inside tonight. The driver was apparently okay, not injured and ended up across a roadway and between another two trees. The things that happen to gardens. #mtwaverley #gardens #hedging #photinia #pittosporum #dangerousgardening #carparks

16.01.2022 We have a no contact policy in place and have been abiding by it for a couple of weeks. It seems to work so hopefully those that cannot do their own gardens can have somewhere outside to enjoy and be safe while in isolation. #keepusgoing #melbournegardens #mtwaverley #aussielawnies #lawnies #gardenersofinstagram #dangerousgardening

16.01.2022 This is Australia. This tree has probably been standing a lot longer than white man has been in Australia. I try to imagine the weather it has endured in its time and reflect on how it just does what it does, grow. Grow its roots, feed on the earth, grow its trunks, branches and leaves to feed on the air and light. Stand strong and keep doing what you do best, be like this tree and live your best life. #Australia #thisisaustralia #mtwaverley #gardener #lawnie #gardenersofaustralia #lawnlife #treelife #staytrue

15.01.2022 End of the silly season. Thank you everyone for your support, I hope you had a very merry Christmas and are looking forward to 2021 as much as we are! This picture sums how post Covid restriction growth was, glad we all survived, looking forward to getting on top of all our gardens in the new year and making sure they’re ready to survive the hot days ahead. Peace out 2020.

14.01.2022 Recently clocked over 12 years in business! Big shout out to those who have been apart of and watched the journey. From the earliest days of planning with my mums group, to starting out with my old wagon, wooden trailer, a 20 yr old rover mower, 20 yr old kwaka brushy, a bent shaft gmc whippy, to purchasing my first Honda (which still goes like new) and a cheap pope hand hedger and pope blower. From those early days when I made just enough money to put my son in day care a... once a week to today when the business has grown to two vehicles, four casual staff and has provided myself and others income along the way. We currently maintain approximately 145 properties! I thank everyone who has helped in the multitude of ways along the way, from the friendships and opportunities to all those who have trusted us, contracted us and given us the care of their lawns and gardens. Looking forward to the next generation joining the business and being able to provide a service to more and more properties and an income for my family and our staff as well. Kind Regards, Andy B #mountwaverley #mtwaverley #success #selfemployed #smallbusiness #gardencare #lawnie #dangerousgardening #honda #shindaiwa #australia #melbourne #gardenersofinstagram #gardenersofaustralia #gardenersofmelbourne See more

13.01.2022 Launched this page 11 years ago today! Will clock over 12 years in business this year! Will be taking on new customers again next month and new staff, watch this space! Bring on 2021!

13.01.2022 Defining the new lawns and garden beds at Andy B’s Mowing headquarters the only way I know how.

12.01.2022 I recently received and invitation to join a class action against the big chemical companies relating to Glyphosate and Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. Firstly to let you know, no it wasnt a personal invitation it was an advert on one of my business social media pages. No I do not have cancer. Accidents happen, I copped a shower from a sprayer one day this week. I knew there was some sort of blockage in it so I checked and cleaned all the filters and went to continue but the hose s...plit shooting diluted glypho onto my face. I found out later the blockage was caused by a chip of plastic caught pre filter in one of connections. Immediately washed myself off and fixed the sprayer and continued to spray. But am I doing the right thing? Should I be using Glypho? Is it the end of the world as we know it? Despite the now three cases of people sueing BayerAg (Monsanto) there is no actual link between the glypho and cancer. Im worried these court cases will increase the cost of running my business which will in turn increase the cost of my services and that of every professional gardener, landscape maintenance provider and Lawnie in the country. We use glypho to save time and money. The alternative product, is three times the cost ml for ml compared to what I pay and requires seven times as much product to do the job. So please I urge you before you speak out against glypho to read the article I have copied below. It quotes experts and is somewhat entertaining. (Disclaimer, its not the full article, I have not provided the opinions of those who were opposed to glypho, basically because they called it a pesticide not a herbicide because they clearly didnt know the difference. Herbicides kill plants, pesticide kill animals, insects etc.)

07.01.2022 Crown for sale... this was a big molar I was shaping at one of the dental surgeries we maintain. Unfortunately the surgery keeps getting late night unwanted visitors so weve been asked to reduce the height of most of the garden down to waist height so the unwanted visitors have no where to hide from passers by. Luckily the large diosma molar is staying but a lot of the garden is changing. Watch this space! #molar #dentist #garden #gardener #mtwaverley

07.01.2022 Hedge top. Some days we spend ages getting a hedge flat and apart from the sharp edge no-one except other gardeners actually see it. Least you all know it’s flat. #hedging #garderner #mountwaverley #mtwaverley

07.01.2022 Rarely remember to take pictures these days. But here are two from today. I love this stair case and the other is the top hedge we were asked to give a light trim.

06.01.2022 In an interesting change of events! That’s what I’ve been saying all along! #mountwaverley #mtwaverley #lawncare #lawnie #gardenersofmelbourne

06.01.2022 Last chance to have a residential robot lawn mower installed today $10,000. Take Carr today fellow Lawnies of Melbourne, keep safe and get what we can get done.

06.01.2022 Going solo today. Nice to run around without the trailer which these days is pretty rare. #hilux #toyota #selfemployed #gardener #lawnie #mtwaverley

06.01.2022 What have you been up to this morning? Like always we’ve been busy as a bee. This one we’re especially proud of.

05.01.2022 All being well we’ll be starting the seasonal pruning we haven’t had time to get to yet, since restrictions. Keep safe and let me climb the ladder. #mountwaverley #mtwaverley #gorrilla #gardener #hedging #pittosporum

05.01.2022 Keeping safe through covid19 pandemic, were almost operating as usual with the biggest change being the reduction of face to face meetings with clients and potential clients and running a complete set of tools per worker to avoid any chance of spread between the team. Its a great time of year for hedge reductions, leaf collection and plantings. Most gardening jobs can be described over the phone or from a safe distance and were eager to help where we can. #mountwaverley #gardenersforhire #dangerousgardening #lawncare #gardencare #localbusiness #covid19

05.01.2022 Lots of firsts lately: first time doing a vacant lot Ive maintained for years with the Ferris. Love the finish with the mulching blades. #lawnmowing #mtwaverley #glenwaverley #donvale #lawnie #lawnies #gardener #gardener #melbourne #rideon #zeroturn #ferrisaustralia

04.01.2022 Weird but happy birthday to my first Honda mower. Bought this girl 12 years ago today! Can’t start to imagine how many sets of blades she’s worn out, I think this is catcher number three or four, not sure how many wheels she’s worn out either. Motor base are original and most of the height adjust arms too. Still runs and operates like she did 12 years ago! #honda196d

03.01.2022 Near side and far side... left and right sided tool boxes so we can run two sets of tools during covid19. #mwtoolbox #mtwaverley #gardener #lawnie #wetdayjobs

03.01.2022 Very auspicious day today! After five weeks with me I let my newbie loose on a lawn in Toorak and one in Glen Iris. Big pressure jobs and he cut them straight as! #toorak #gleniris #edges #lawncare #lawnie #shindaiwa #gardener #dangerousgardening

02.01.2022 Looking for another staff member. We simply cannot keep up with existing work load. Local work start and finish most days in Mt Waverley, everything from weed control, gardening, lawn care, hedging and minor tree work. Send your resume to [email protected] and let me know why you want to be a gardener. #mtwaverley #mountwaverley

02.01.2022 Last week I spent four days looking forward to sitting on this all Friday afternoon. Half an hour later it was all over, a loose wire fell down and caught up in the pulleys and shut the blades down. This week Im looking forward to getting her back from the shop with the wiring sorted out and really ready to cut some grass again like it was brand new! Bring on wide open spaces with lots of grass!

02.01.2022 We dont always go to Port Melbourne but when we do we tame the untamed. #gardener #hedging #shindaiwa #portmelbourne #gardenersofmelbourne

01.01.2022 When you rock up to a job and its as far as you can see both ways. Were very grateful to be allowed to continue working keeping public parks and grounds freshly cut and safe for locals to enjoy their limited exercise in. #playingwiththebigboys #gardenersofmelbourne #lawniesofinstagram #aussiesofinstagram #dangerousgardening #mtwaverley

01.01.2022 My daughter asked me over the weekend What do we call fall in Australia, I cant remember? We call it Autumn darling. #usa #fall #leafcollection #dangerousgardening #mtwaverley #gardener #gardening #lawncare #lawnmaintenance #lawnie

01.01.2022 I like to show the things people dont see every day. This was a tree that was growing beside a sewerage vent and inside a large hedge. The interesting thing is how the tree absorbed the poison and dye I used into its roots and that changed the remaining leaves to blue too. #science

01.01.2022 Frosty mornings last week
