25.01.2022 Beautiful day at Horseshoe for our MIA Wednesday morning gathering. More people on the beach these days.

25.01.2022 Brush, ink, and watercolour. A Sunday sketch.

24.01.2022 Last Wednesday’s sketch with MIA updated. Osprey lands with lunch at Picnic Bay.

23.01.2022 I’ve revisited the 5m planing dinghy I built last year. Adding an extra strake to the forward two thirds of the boat will make her huskier and a safer vessel out in the slop. More shots will follow next week as finishing touches go on.

21.01.2022 Sunday sketch. Tephrosia spp. One of our local native leguminous plants. A small shrub. Bees love the lilac flowers. I have it growing wild and self seeding in my yard.

21.01.2022 Sketching group day with MIA. Tucked in out of the wind in a copse of trees beside the golf course in Picnic Bay. Four galahs fed quietly on the ground right up close as I stood still with my phone and was allowed to get shots to compose this group portrait.

20.01.2022 Wednesday with our wonderful sketching group. Beautiful day.

20.01.2022 I knocked out three possum houses this week . This one is now installed in Townsville and awaits it’s new tenant.

19.01.2022 My entries in the current Australian Wood Review Maker of the Year competition. Two ergonomic stools in African mahogany (one is ebonised)

17.01.2022 Yesterday with our sketching group at Picnic Bay I got thus one done.

16.01.2022 One of my ergonomic stools has been shortlisted in the furniture section of the Australian Wood Review Maker of the Year competition. I put a lot into my two entries and am really pleased. What do you reckon?

15.01.2022 Sunday sketch. This Chrysanthemum has been in our family for four generations (that I know of) Old fashioned and gorgeous white/gold. First blooms in Townsville this year as the buds start bursting.

14.01.2022 Wednesday. Painting day with M.I. Artists group. All together again after lockdown. A grey, damp and windy day at Picnic Bay.

12.01.2022 New stool in African mahogany. I’m counting the hours on this one. It’s a practice run for a national competition piece . 8 hrs to this stage.

10.01.2022 The last few days.....

08.01.2022 Sunday sketch. Silver Gulls on the boat ramp.

08.01.2022 Some professional shots of one of the pair of stools I finished last week. Photos by Savanna Mortimer Magnetic Island.

04.01.2022 A gorgeous morning at Alma Bay, on the site of the old Alma Den Resort. This is the view from the front of the now decrepit buildings towards Cape Cleveland. W...e are planning to getting involved in revegetating the slopes between it and the beach - which are a part of the National Park. One can see why a resort was built there. See more

03.01.2022 Another great film by Silje Ensby and the gang at Hardanger. I love her films and find each one a serious learning experience. This time we see how wooden oars are made.

03.01.2022 First shot at a croc in the sunset watercolour. Thank you Daintree River Cruises for the photo I worked from, which I screenshot. I have another sheet of Arches 300g rough with an apricot wash ready for a second go.

02.01.2022 Sketching day. Horseshoe Bay. Endeavour Ck mouth. Looking north. The mouth is closing again after the wet as the creek flow stops and the trade wind swell pushes sand back onto the beach slope. We’ve had two beaut days here. Next week we’re off into the bush.

01.01.2022 This a demonstration of a great many woodworking techniques by a master. Watch closely. I love the scraper work and so much more.
