19.01.2022 Okay, so I've been looking at starting a blog about my latest art project, but haven't worked out the formal details. In the interest of putting something out to share here are some photos of the work in progress - "Camelot Forest" Approached by the assistant principal about working with the school community to design and install an artwork/garden on 9x2 metre wall, and never one to chose a simple solution, I came back with the idea of a mosaic mural depicting the forest whic...h would have surrounded the magical realm of Camelot (our school is called Camelot Rise Primary, and we have a sword in the stone and everything!). Running a series of drawing lessons across various year levels, I quickly amassed a wealth of material from which to build our design. The mosaic is then being constructed from these student drawings during project days, art classes and in my own garage. Optimistic completion date: last day of school, December 2019
16.01.2022 Finally our wolf has arrived at Camelot Rise! It was a busy school holidays - finishing off work from our last project day, working with Nikki and Nathan and the kids from the school holiday program, and installing the work we had completed with several grade 6 students over last term. More mosaic coming soon!
08.01.2022 A selection of the sculptures I make.
03.01.2022 More from Camelot Forest One of my amazing artists in Foundation drew these wonderful bats. The trees and the raven came from grades 1 and 2. Mosaic work began on a school project day with the a group of students from grades 3 to 5, and has proceeded with the invaluable assistance of my apprentices, Nikki and Nathan Pullar. The planters (reclaimed pallets) should form convincing trees with a bit more planting. In fact, almost everything in this picture is recycled - from broken garden pots, smashed crockery, and tiles reclaimed from home renovations or demolitions!
