25.01.2022 Something we will be watching at FDC this week. Watch it with your kids too

24.01.2022 This is the best thing I’ve seen all day! If you are currently involved in self-isolation home school give this a try, it can be adapted for all ages and is a great way to burn some energy while learning. Note: crossing the midline is reaching across your body with arms or legs such as reaching your left hand across to the right side. It is usually achieved around age 4.

24.01.2022 More things to do this week...

20.01.2022 Brilliant words from a School Principal (shared by a friend) I can’t love it enough. COVID-19 Kids what if? When people say kids are going to be ‘behind’ I say, behind what?? Not each other- they’re all in the same boat. Only ‘behind’ the age expectations of a curriculum that currently has limited context due to these extraordinary circumstances. In front on so many other more important fronts I say. ... What if instead of behind this group of kids is advanced because of this. What if they have more empathy, they enjoy family connection, they can be more creative and entertain themselves, they love to read, they love to express themselves in writing. What if they enjoy the simple things, like their own backyard and sitting near a window in the quiet? What if they notice the birds and the dates the different flowers emerge, and the calming renewal of a gentle rain shower? What if this generation is the one to learn to cook, organize their space, do their laundry, and keep a well-run home? What if they learn to stretch a dollar and to live with less? What if they learn to plan shopping trips and meals at home? What if they learn the value of eating together as a family and finding the good to share in the small delights of the everyday? What if they are the ones to place great value on our teachers and educational professionals, librarians, public servants and the previously invisible essential support workers like truck drivers, grocers, cashiers, custodians, logistics, and health care workers and their supporting staff, just to name a few of the millions taking care of us right now while we are sheltered in place? What if among these children, a great leader emerges who had the benefit of a slower pace and a simpler life, who has a fine sense of empathy and care and concern for fellow humans. What if he or she truly learns what really matters in all this

15.01.2022 For those of you who have started the home school journey. Take 7 minutes to listen, you may feel a little better.

12.01.2022 The Chicken Dance kids

12.01.2022 I will definitely be sharing some of these videos with the children. There are some children I know who will just love THE VERY CRANKY BEAR. Sorry I’m not sure why it has no sound, please follow the link below to enjoy the story.

12.01.2022 The ultimate in ‘loose parts play’. I placed an upturned table and bicycle tyres on the grass. Everything else has been gathered by the children to build a doggy’s house. Love it!

08.01.2022 Rainy week coming up. Some indoor tasks to keep the children busy

08.01.2022 This week is BOOK WEEK (some schools celebrate at other times of the year), in celebration of that I have gifted each child a book from my personal library. The idea is to read it, share it, give it or leave it. A great way to encourage reading and sharing with others. If your child receives a book I hope you find this experience worthwhile. I’d love to see photos of your child enjoying or sharing their book.

08.01.2022 So thankful to be in Perth where we can go to a park and enjoy being outdoors. Stay safe, be vigilant

05.01.2022 I often film short videos of the children involved in play based learning, then they turn out to be too long to send by text. So I thought I’d post a random selection today of some treasures that I found on my phone. Apologies if not all children are featured. I’ll add them as I sort through, I hope you enjoy them.
