23.01.2022 This might look like a chaotic mess.... But it was actually the product of an hour of focused and creative loose parts play from Miss A. Each item and its placement was carefully considered and adjusted as required. Loose parts provide so much opportunity for open ended play and exploration....now to pack it all up again at the end of the day!

23.01.2022 Please be advised that I am now on maternity leave, and will not be taking any new enrolments at this stage. Looking forward to this next little adventure for our family!

22.01.2022 We have spent a beautiful morning exploring the seasonal changes in our garden. We noticed that the bees seem to be finished with the sunflowers, so we pulled them out to make room for Autumn planting. The children studied the sunflowers and observed the pattern of black seeds inside the flower head. Later, we created some drawings inspired by our sunflower observations. As a bonus, we found 5 potatoes that had secretly grown underneath one of the sunflowers!

20.01.2022 We don't mind the rain here :) the children have been busy identifying plants and picking greens for our pet rabbits Waffles and Clover. The bunnies are breakfasting on parsley, lettuce, radishes, cabbage leaves, and strawberry tops... Lucky bunnies!

15.01.2022 How wonderful to have our schoolies return for a day. Watching the interactions between the younger and older children is so rewarding, as the little ones respond to guidence from their older peers in such a positive way!

11.01.2022 We have moved! My family made the journey across Bass Strait, and are now located in Burnie, Tasmania. We are looking forward to welcoming some new friends to our Family Day Care in April.

10.01.2022 We spent a wonderful morning in the garden today... The children were so excited to pick our first flush of tomatoes, and enjoyed eating a few as well! Being involved in the maintenance of our vegetable garden supports the children's understanding of where food comes from, as well as their ability to notice and respond to change in their natural environments.

09.01.2022 All vacancies are currently filled until I go on maternity leave at the beginning of August. If you need care from March 2020 please pm or email [email protected] with your contact details, child's name and age, and preferred days.

08.01.2022 Every year the children celebrate the change to Autumn by picking any pumpkins that have grown in our vegetable garden. We then enjoy cooking with our pumpkins. Today we made pumpkin scones, and in the spirit of producing less waste we decided to roast the seeds from the pumpkin. We mixed the cleaned seeds with olive oil, paprika, salt and garlic seasoning, which made for a delicious afternoon snack we could share!

07.01.2022 What to do on a hot day? Break the animals out of the ice! Using salt, water, spoons and cups the children worked at melting the ice to get the animals out! As the ice melted the children were treated to an icey way to cool off their feet. This activity was a wonderful combination of problem solving, sensory play, and opportunities for dramatic play.

06.01.2022 Things have been very busy around here recently! I have two exciting announcements to make... Edith Rose Dwyer made her way into the world 8 weeks ago to join us. And..... We are moving to Tasmania! Angela's Family Day Care will be reopening in Burnie, Tasmania in the new year. Thank you to everyone that has been a part of our wonderful family day care community here in Frankston x

06.01.2022 We are continuing to explore seasonal changes today. Our Easter bunny invitation to play has colourful Autumn leaves for the bunnies to frolic in, and to make the experience relevant to an Australian Easter. In between rain showers we ventured into the garden and began to dig up our Jerusalem artichokes. Mr N and Miss A were delighted to discover more and more of the tubers hiding in the dirt as we turned the earth over. We filled a very large bucket with these, and still have more to dig up, so I think we will be sharing the produce with Mr N's family today :)
