20.01.2022 The other day I saw a post. Can someone come and bully me into going to the gym. I this brings up what I believe is worrying about the fitness industry. And completely ridiculous way of thinking about fitness and exercise.... The fitness industry has created a culture that has conditioned us to think that we should exercise in a gym, lift weights or jump around in an exercise class to get fit. We think that 30 mins of exercise 3 times a week will counteract our sedentary lifestyle. That it will take care of all-out fitness needs. Movement is way more important than exercise. Training your body doesn't have to fit into a box. Our bodies don't need to be pushed and pulled by strengthening or stretching muscles into a shape the fitness culture has defined us sexy. Movement can be climbing a tree, playing a game of ball or walking in nature. There are so many ways to move that will get your heart rate up and move your muscles. There shouldn't be a should in wanting to move your body, you shouldn't have to be bullied into moving for your health and fitness. Movement is fundamental to life. Life is meant to be fun and enjoyable. Find a movement practice you enjoy doing doesn't be caught up in the cultural conditioning of thinking the only way to get fit is to join a gym. Go find a playground and climb, take a kite to the beach, or grab your bestie and have a run around with a ball, play hopscotch or climb walls.

17.01.2022 Movement Myth #1: Im hurting because Im getting old. Its not about age or wear and tear on the body. It's the way you use yourself. ... Your habitual movement patterns that have been developed over the course of your life are now telling you something is out of alignment. You are not using your skeleton the most efficient and effortless way you can. Your movement habits are formed after a trauma to the body, injury or psychological. The nervous system sets the movement pattern it into the body so that we didn't feel pain at that time. That's how smart the nervous system is. Problem is the habit remains long after the pain has gone. Changing the habits of how you use your skeleton will help change the pain. There are many older people that still move well. Its your choice to not listen to your body when it is talking to you. Everyone has the capacity to heal their own bodies. Movement is fundamental to life. We have come to understand what we eat affects us. Why dont we look at how we move? Not just in terms of fitness, building strength and flexibility but how our skeleton responds to gravity and how it moves from position to position.

She soon realized that performance had limited outcomes but having been introduced to the Feldenkrais Method at college, recognized that helping people fine-tune their proprioceptive sense and become aware of their habits was a more powerful tool for liberating and optimizing the body and mind, regardless of age, experience or ability. 15.01.2022 When the skeletal system is out of alignment, the muscular system has to work overtime to keep your body upright. So much back pain could be alleviated or cured if we could find a way for the skeletal system to do its job better, letting the muscles find neutral, resting length. Its the bones that give us clarity of form. The muscles simply propel them through space. Smart movements can work wonders to increase awareness and remind the body how its supposed to work. ... 11.01.2022 How to Avoid Overwhelmed When Creating Content Forever As someone who is running two online businesses. My Feldenkrais Practice and my Marketing Coaching. I have LOTS of content to create, programs and so many ideas. I want to share them all with my audience. What works for me is to FOCUS on one thing at a time.... 1. Decide on one main platform. LinkedIn or Facebook? LinkedIn is a fantastic tool. This platform is where Facebook was 8 years ago. Only 1% of people post a min. of once a week. That means if you post more than once a week you are part of the 1%, your posts are likely to be seen. Facebook, on the other hand, is great for conversation. Your Business page is like a website for consumers to check out your offers but the algorithm makes it hard to get your posts seen. Point 2 should help. 2. Create Valuable Content Create regular, useful content that you can share with your audience. You may want to use a blog post or create short videos, (you could even reuse the same content in all these different formats) it will depend on your audience and what you have got to say. Use one other channel Select and use one other channel that is relevant to your audience. If you like taking photos, you may want to use Instagram to share high-quality images, aspirational images, if you want to converse, then Twitter may be the one for you. Get educated on what the current scientific research has found. 1 of 7 - ways to stretch safely.without going into a detailed description of the research let me give you an overview of how to stretch safely. ... TIP 1: Don't consider stretching a warmup. You may hurt yourself if you stretch cold muscles. Before stretching, warm up with light walking, jogging or biking at a low intensity for five to 10 minutes. Even better, stretch after your workout when your muscles are warm. Keep stretching if it feels good. But if you're serious about helping yourself move easier without damaging your body update your knowledge. Awareness Through Movement lessons will increase your flexibility without damaging your body. Currently my students are doing the Froggy Series to open up the hips and increase flexibility without stretching or straining. Check the event section on this page for more details. 09.01.2022 You move differently when you have back pain, the way you move is part of the problem. It's a normal response, that would just be a temporary adjustment, but what happens is it becomes a habit and it starts to cause other problems. Maybe you're: using too much effort your breathing is restricted ... maybe you're using one area to much or not enough in another area Each part of your spine is made to do different movements. People with lower back pain usually dont move very much in the thoracic spine. The lumbar area is made to do flexion and extension. The thoracic spine does many other things saying "dont twist in the areas it is designed to twist in will only put more pressure on other areas. 09.01.2022 In 2006, Kibler defined core stability as the ability to control the position and motion of the trunk over the pelvis to allow optimum production, transfer and control of force and motion to the terminal segment in integrated athletic activities. The problem with this definition is that it is often taken to mean that rigidity of the trunk equals stability. It implies that if we train muscles harder to create stiffness around the spine it will mean we have good core stabili...ty. This is a myth. True core stability is dependent on a complex interplay between movement and stiffness. It is not about doing hundreds of sit ups, getting a six-pack or being able to hold a plank position for three minutes although these do have their purposes. For instance, core stability for ballet dancers is fine coordination of postural and outer muscles to allow controlled mobility of the pelvis and spine with movement, rather than bracing in one spot.

07.01.2022 You know when ALL the things go wrong and you suddenly go from calm to stressed in 60 seconds? That was me yesterday, when I realized had sent an email from the last BAM video launch with links to the old videos, I was sitting up in bed for the first time in 72 hours since I have been struggling with a cold this past week, so sick I had even lost my voice and before I knew it there was. A tightness in my chest and I felt out of control.... Here's what I did: 1. Took a deep breath 2. Reviewed the links you were sent 3. Decided to email those signed up today. What do you do when you are stressed? The reason I got so stress is Im doing this BAM for a balanced body and life video series launch a little differently with all new videos. Those signed up will be rewarded for leveling up your knowledge and learning about how doing regular Feldenkrais lessons can benefit you. After running the Bodyfulness program I thought about how I can best serve those who sign up for my free offers. 06.01.2022 My little army of men dont have a Dad. Since the moment they were born they had one parent, me. I'm fortunate to have my extended family to help me with my boys, and an amazing partner. Which I'm forever grateful for. Any single parent would understand, it still gets tough on the days when you're not feeling the best. Shout out to the men who step up and parent the children that arent biological theirs. Happy Fathers Day to you. ... I have found ways to make life easier. I learnt very quickly when I can go full steam and when I have to take things a little slower. What tasks have to be done, what can be left to later or delegated. My advice to any single parent running a business: First acknowledge the amazing job you do, secondly dont get caught up in thinking how you think things should be.
