Up for bids is a one-of-a-kind miniature wedding dress on a dressmakers mannequin created by our talented Member Annette using salvaged wedding dress materials. Re-creating a 1950s style wedding dress, this 5 tiered white embroidered organza dress falls into a slight train at the back. A shawl collar and a nipped in waist are e...mphasised by the full gathered net petticoat supporting the skirt. The attention to detail is just stunning with miniature lace flower decorations at the shoulders and dcolletage as well at the back waist. The handmade dressmakers mannequin display stand is 56 cm tall while the dress is 1/3 scale with a 25 cm waist. The model dress would be a stunning addition to a sewing studio or the dress could be removed to dress a special bride doll. RESERVE PRICE FOR AUCTION ONE is $45 AUD. 22.01.2022 ONLINE AUCTION 2 Welcome to our Online Auction 2 today at the Great Australian Craft Show 5. This auction will run until 6 pm AEST today Friday 7th August 2020.... Up for bids is a one-of-a-kind miniature framed dress created from remnant wedding dress materials by our Member Christine. The dress has been created using a pattern purchased from Kreations by Karon in the USA. The fabric used is pale pink vintage flocked nylon organza salvaged from a donated bridesmaids dress and the skirt has scattered tiny sequin and bead embellishments. The puffed sleeves and full gathered skirt are edged in narrow vintage lace while the ribbon on the high waist has a crystal flower sequin on the centre front. The dress is appliqued to the vintage textured silk background fabric and is not removable from the frame. The dress measures 24 cm from shoulder to hem while the wooden shadow box style frame measures 45 cm x 45 cm and has a clear acrylic covering on the front. It’s a challenging time for charities who rely so heavily on community support and donations to continue their services. We’re very grateful that we had a chance to interact with you in 2020 through limited face-to-face events in some states, and then online from April to October through the Great Australian Craft Shows (GACS) by the Craft Alive team. 21.01.2022 Welcome to day 3 at our "stand" at the Great Australia Craft Show 6 (GACS6) Today wed like to showcase some of the beautiful angelic and elegant garments that our wonderful volunteer dressmakers have made. Within 6 months of starting our Charity in March 2014 wed developed our own unique customised garment patterns and theyve now evolved to include sleeping bags, fabric bonnets and basic gowns in 5 sizes, angel wraps for little angels less that 20 weeks gestation and 2 p...iece suits for the larger sized baby boys. All garments are made from salvaged wedding dress materials which were generously donated by Australian brides from 2014 to 2018. We are currently not collecting dress donations while we transform the dresses in hand and will review stock levels in mid 2021. 16.01.2022 THE GREAT AUSTRALIAN CRAFT SHOW 5 Welcome to the first day at the Angel Gowns Australia stand at the Great Australian Craft Show 5. 2020 has been a very challenging year so far, with some adjustments to regular routines and the way we do some things. At Angel Gowns Australia were happy to report that were still able to offer our special bereavement service with minimal disruption. We have no physical office and most tasks are done at home in our spare time. ... Our volunteer Members have continued to create beautiful baby burial garments to gift to bereaved families. Materials to create our garments are distributed via courier and orders which hospitals and funeral homes place for stock are being packed for delivery by courier wherever possible, to comply with any restrictions which may be in place. Where a family cannot access a garment when needed our Special Request service is still available by emailing us at [email protected] with details. Many usual face-to-face events including craft shows and fairs have been re-scheduled or cancelled all together for this year. The team at Craft Alive has been hosting monthly online craft shows to support the craft industry since April this year with the August Great Australian Craft Show being the fifth in the series. Were very happy to be participating again over the next 4 days from 9.30 am till 4 pm daily. In Australia there were approx. 2,850 perinatal deaths in 2018, including 737 neonatal deaths (deaths within 28 days of birth) and 2,118 stillbirths (more than 20 weeks gestation) This is the latest available data for perinatal deaths and is provided from the Australian Bureau of Statistics via the Australian Insti...tute of Health and Welfare. The figures do not include miscarriages, which occur before 20 weeks gestation. where 1 in 4 pregnancies are lost. Consider the ripple effect of each baby death think about the siblings, grandparents, aunts and uncles and the extended circle of family and friends who were impacted and may never learn why that baby died. Angel Gowns Australia is very proud that our work brought some comfort to many families in 2018 by providing a beautiful gown to dress their baby for their final goodbye. During the pandemic many Australian families are still being impacted by baby and infant loss. As weve advised previously, dress collections are currently closed. Were so sorry to disappoint but were still working hard to reduce the number of dresses in storage waiting to be transformed. Well continue to monitor the long queue and advise if this changes. Since Angel Gowns Austral...ia started in March 2014 generous Australian families have donated over 6000 wedding dresses. Thanks to those donors, hundreds of hospitals and funeral homes around Australia have been gifted stock of our elegant and angelic angel gown garments and this will continue for the foreseeable future as needed. 14.01.2022 OUR "SPECIAL REQUEST" SERVICE We offer a "Special Request service at Angel Gowns Australia and have a Coordinator monitoring the [email protected] email all the time. Families needing an urgent garment are welcome to contact us and hospitals or funeral home orders can be placed on that email address too. Sometimes our team goes that extra mile to provide a special angel gown garment from a familys own wedding dress. Wed like to share this story which was s...ent to us by one of our State Coordinators. I was processing wedding dresses, which had been donated about 2 years previously, to be sent to seamstresses. I probably processed about a dozen that particular day. Two weeks later I received a Special Request message to provide a garment for a little boy that was going to be born still... but the unusual double-barrelled surname rang a bell. I looked back at the dresses I had processed and yes it was the same person, same address. I contacted the seamstress who had received the dress to transform to make sure she still had it, then made the decision to call the bride to say that I had found the dress she had donated and ask if shed like us to use it for her Special Request. Well blown away is an understatement ! She cried and cried with happiness (I did too) It seemed almost impossible that this could happen. Our seamstress went ahead and made the special gown and a presentation blanket out of the dress and it was duly sent to the family. Months later the recipient called to thank me . and she has since had a healthy baby boy ***DRESS COLLECTIONS ARE CURRENTLY CLOSED*** We really appreciate all past donations of wedding dresses very much but we still have a very long queue of dresses waiting to be transformed. 13.01.2022 Welcome to our final day at the Great Australian Craft Show 7. Sadly this is the last day of the show in this series which has been a wonderful success for all exhibitors involved. We're very grateful to Craft Alive for supporting the craft industry through these challenging times by providing a platform for businesses and other organisations like Angel Gowns Australia to showcase what we do. As a thankyou to everyone for supporting us this week we'd like to share the direct...ions for a decorative flat hanging heart. This was designed by the Seamstress and Creative Committee to use remnants of fabrics donated to the organisation. You can make these hearts using any woven fabric from your stash, and if you choose Christmas colours or printed fabrics they would make a beautiful decoration for your tree this Christmas. Alternatively you could create a very cute festive bunting by attaching 9 to 11 hearts to a long ribbon swag. If you have any difficulty printing the directions from the photos please contact us by DM and we'll send them by email to you instead. The auction starts at 1 pm and will finish at 6 pm AEDT (Sydney time) Up for bids today is a sweet ballerina cloth doll AND a unicorn character white fabric mini backpack. Our ballerina cloth doll features a unicorn print fabric bodice and a frilly tutu style skirt trimmed with ribbon. Grey felt hair is appliqued while her facial features are embroidered. P...ink felt ballet slippers are appliqued to her feet and she has decorative charms sewn securely on her hairdo and neckline. Our ballerina doll measures 51 cm from the top of her head to her toes and was created by our volunteer Veronica. The unicorn character mini backpack is made from light weight white taffeta and features gathered pastel tulle and felt flowers each side of the gold lame fabric horn. The felt facial features are appliqued to the front of the bag which closes by pulling the ribbons through the casing. The bag was created by our volunteer Chris and is most suited to light weight items such as soft toys, light books or that collection of small toys which a little girl must take everywhere with her. The bag measures 45 cm from the tip of the horn to the base. . RESERVE PRICE FOR AUCTION SIX is $40 AUD. The white tulle and lace overskirt features fabric from a salvaged wedding dress and is tied closed at the back with ribbons making it suitable for a...ble bodied children as well as those with medical challenges. The set includes a complementary headband featuring a tulle and lace flower with a pink ribbon at the centre which complements the decoration on the front of the tutu skirt. The waistband measures 55 cm relaxed while the skirt is 32 cm long so this would fit an average child between 5 and 6 years of age. The waist has some adjustment due to the ribbon ties. 05.01.2022 Our beautiful angel gown garments are created from wedding dress materials using our customised patterns by our volunteer dressmakers. Were currently working with dresses which were donated over the past 6 years and there is still a long queue waiting to be transformed. As a result were not able to accept more dress donations until we reduce that backlog. At this time we expect to review that decision in late 2021. Were grateful for the past generosity of Australian famil...ies and thankyou for your patience and understanding. A selection of donated vintage dresses has been reserved for display purposes and they always start some meaningful interactions and conversations with visitors wherever theyre exhibited. The collection represents weddings from the 1930s through to the 1990s and includes hats, veils, headpieces and wedding tokens as well. We always seek permission from the donors to display the garments where possible and sometimes were able to include a wedding photo or background story as well. This outfit is perfect for festive season photos or video chats with family. The apron and matching hat were made by our volunteer Chris from donated light weight green satin and red sequin printed fabric. White felt shapes are appliqued to the apron and are embellished with small green metallic sequins with gold beads in the centre. The waist "belt" has an appliqued gold felt buckle in the centre. The apron measures 49 cm from the top to the tip of the red chevrons on the hem while the hat will fit up to a 53 cm head circumference. Ribbon ties at the neckline and waist allow this apron to fit from ages 4 to 7 years. This outfit is not recommended for younger children due to the small parts.
