18.01.2022 In early 2018, Buckley Street (the border of Buckley and Myrnong Wards) lost 17 mature sugar gum trees which were registered by Moonee Valley City Council on the Significant Tree Register. The State Labor Government had a total lack of regard for the locals and hired security guards to keep everyone away while cutting the trees down.... Save Buckley Street fought hard to keep the trees. Many of us decorated the trees to bring attention to the destruction we were powerless to stop. 11.01.2022 Development happens. It has always been, and will always be an issue. Council needs to make sure new developments are in the interest of people, and not just the developers. With Moonee Valley set to swell by 2036 with an extra 50,000 residents living in another 22,000 homes, apartments and townhouses will need to be the only option as land is scarce. With this, we need to consider how people will use already congested roads, crowded public transport, busy paths and our bea...utiful parks. This means: Preserving and expanding our parks Advocating for better public transport infrastructure Setting a higher standard for developers. What do you want to see happen in our neighbourhoods?
