19.01.2022 VTP’s 2021 Group Class enrolments open now Do you love musical theatre? Or maybe just the chance to sing in harmony? Then we have the class for you. This year we are running our Junior Musical Theatre which is $12 for 1 hour. This is for ages K-yr8. We concentrate on drama and characterisation games, as well as foundation skills in all areas of Musical Theatre. ... Our Senior Musical Theatre is available for students Yr 7 to adult. You don’t need to be a private singing student to join. They are $15 for one hour. We concentrate on intermediate/advanced level singing and Musical Theatre Skills. We also have our Senior Glee which is for ages Y7 to adult also. We work on the harmonised Glee arrangements used in the hit television show Glee. If we have enough interest we will also run an intermediate class for Yr 6-8 as an extension to the skills learnt in Junior Musical Theatre. Classes located in Metford. This piece was in that very first show, before Dorothy became my singing teacher and inviting me into their family. Sadly both passed this year but we dedicate this song to you. 16.01.2022 Introducing Layla. Layla is the recipient of our VTP Senior Musical Theatre Scholarship to use in 2021. Layla started Musical Theatre classes with VTP in 2019 as well as performing in our Mamma Mia Performance Class. From the beginning Layla’s musicality was on point. She performed her first mini solo as Eliza in the Schuyler Sisters and then continued to be more of a featured soloist in 2020. Layla also competed in our You Can’t Stop The Music earlier this year showing... growth and improvement every week. In Term 3 she began private lessons as well and yesterday performed her very first ever solo in person. Her passion and dedication is an inspiration to everyone who hears her sing. Layla also performs 2 Christmas songs on our Very VTP Christmas album that’s available for purchase. 12.01.2022 Today we were excited to be able to share with our families our combined Christmas album. Some of the students have been recording their very own albums this week and I was lucky enough to be able to use their Christmas piece on the album along with some of my favourite ones I’ve sung over the years. Now that our families have put their orders in we are now taking orders from the public. 07.01.2022 While the final week of our online competition is being rehearsed by our contestants, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our judges once more. This competition has been done out of love for performing arts and personal growth. We believe everyone should have the chance to sing and grow as performers, especially in these uncertain times. Each week our judges score each contestant at their age level and what their ability should be for their age. No one is co...mpared to other performers or marked against each other which is incredible in a competition setting. We chat each week and talk about each performance and a lot of time it turns into a conversation about how proud we are for everyone who has entered and given it a go. Our resident judge Annie brings a wealth of knowledge in all genres and our guest judges excel at their given genre and the free feedback they give is just as good as what youd get in the professional world. For our contestants to have that opportunity is such a gift. So from Stuart and myself, thank you judges!!!

07.01.2022 Introducing our first special guest judge for our Grand Final of You Cant Stop The Music, Amber Lewis from Accentuate Music. Amber has been part of the Hunter theatre community for over 20 years. She has gained a Bachelor of Music through the University of Newcastle, holds and ATCL Singing Diploma through Trinity College London and owns her own vocal tuition business, Accentuate Music. To date, Amber has been involved in over 50 musicals. She has performed in ensemble and... main roles, as well as taking on the roles of Director, Musical Director and Choreographer for multiple shows. Her more recent roles include playing Cherubino in Opera Hunters Marriage Of Figaro, Cinderella in Maitland Musical Societys production of Into The Woods, Musical Director for YPTs productions of Cats and Little Women, Director for both YPTs production of Hot Mikado and Opera Hunters production of Pirates Of Penzance, for which she received a CONDA nomination. Teaching is Ambers true passion, and she has been teaching singing for over 11 years, as well as teaching music and movement with Perform-Ability for a time. 02.01.2022 Every year VTP gives out a scholarship for a student who has shown exceptional dedication and growth throughout the year. This year we have decided to award two recipients with a Musical Theatre Scholarship for next year. The scholarship entails one term’s worth of group Musical Theatre classes to be used at their convenience in 2021. This year our VTP Junior Musical Theatre Scholarship recipient is Hannah. Hannah has worked very hard this year to be able to concentrate for longer periods of time, was a soloist volunteer and overall showed the most improvement throughout the year. Her confidence continues to blossom and we look forward to where her performing skills go next as she joins us for her 5th year at VTP next year.
