05.01.2022 AAT’s Position on the Plenty River Fish Kill Anglers Alliance Tasmania is shocked at the recent mortality event at Plenty Salmon Ponds, which saw the loss of 120,000 brown trout fry, 13,000 rainbow trout fry, 43 brook trout and 28 display fish. The Plenty Salmon Ponds is the ancestral home of trout in Tasmania and has special significance to Tasmanian trout fishers. These tragic figures preclude the impact on wild fish, other aquatic organisms and bankside flora and fauna in... the Plenty River and beyond. AAT welcomes the Minster’s call for a full EPA investigation and awaits its findings, subsequent recommendations, and actions. In light of this event at Plenty, AAT believes the proposal for a similar facility, Dunedin, on the North Esk raises significant environmental concerns. See more
