21.01.2022 A Custom made Cheese Board with a Unique Handle like no other. #woodcaretip For washing: You can wash boards with a soap, rinse in hot water, wipe clean, and allow to dry upright.... For board maintenance: every few weeks, you can generously sprinkle coarse salt over the surface of the board, rub it with a sliced lemon, then rinse well with hot water. Once a month, you can apply a small amount of mineral oil or beeswax, rubbing with a lint-free cloth in the direction of the wood grain. (Walnut oil or almond oil are good alternatives, but stay away from olive or vegetable oils, as they turn rancid quickly). Wipe off excess and dry board overnight. After a few years, with a quality board, you can get it re-sanded and it will look brand new. 07.01.2022 An exciting project to be involved in! #Repost @AliciaHolgar with @get_repost Curves & cantilevers ~ along with integrated art became the founding principles of the Avian Apartment design.... Resting within an iconic Seidler building, it was initially tempting to run with a modernist approach & aesthetic. However this did not entirely suit the clients brief. Upon further research & trying to find ways to interpret & harmonise the architecture & brief were core aspects to Seidlers architectural approach uncovered. One feat he pulled off so well was curved & cantilevered structures. Aesthetically stunning but highly engineered as well. In respect to these principles, the clients brief & value management process did many aspects of the design evolve. Of note, a curved & cantilevered feature wall (shown in part) was designed to flow with the fluid floor plan, house a tv & ample book space as required by the brief. This transpired into two 5m long solid American oak bookshelves entirely floating underneath the suspended wall that flows in & out. This was achieved by re-engineering & rebuilding the wall to support the cantilevered forms & weight. I spoke to numerous builders who did not want to take on this crazy task & was thrilled when Dacro Constructions took on the collaboration.
