21.01.2022 Poverty exists. Poverty hurts us all. We can all do something about it. This year marks the 18th anniversary of Anti-Poverty Week. Held between 11 17 Octobe...r 2020, it helps to increase understanding of poverty and how we can end it. During these tough times, it is more important than ever to support struggling West Australians. Marginalised communities are the hardest hit by the health and economic impact of COVID-19 and we believe affordable housing and raising unemployment payments are the best solution. That is why we have partnered with the Everybody's Home campaign and Australian Council of Social Service’s Raise the Rate campaign. Together we can empower and protect our community’s most vulnerable members. Act now, visit https://antipovertyweek.org.au/. 12.01.2022 Behind the figure of one million people who have died from coronavirus are a million mothers and fathers; daughters and sons; grandparents and siblings; friends..., colleagues and neighbours. One million precious, beloved, irreplaceable children of God. Today is a dark and difficult day, for our nation and our world. It’s a day to grieve with those who grieve. To pray for those who suffer. To cry out to God in prayer for an end to this pandemic. But it’s also a day to remember that it was into a troubled, fearful and hurting world that God sent His only Son. To remember that Jesus Christ came not just to walk with us, but to lay down His life for us. There is no agony, trauma or grief that we are left to face alone. It is this Christ who accompanies us through any darkness, comforts us by his love, and offers hope through His light. In His name, we pray for the resilience and courage to keep going through this time of trial. ‘The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.’ (John 1:5)

03.01.2022 For 16 days in November and December, the community is invited to take part in a major effort to encourage change to stop violence against women. The annual 16 ...Days in WA Stop Violence Against Women campaign takes place from 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, to 10 December, which is Human Rights Day. Now in its fourth year, 16 Days in WA draws inspiration from the global movement for 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence to drive a change in culture, behaviour and attitudes that lead to violence against women and their children. You are invited to create change during the campaign to educate, motivate and advocate in your community, and stand up to stop violence against women. Together we can make a difference. Find out how you can get involved at: www.communities.wa.gov.au/projects/16-days-in-wa/resources/
