18.01.2022 We rely on seafarers - but they don’t vote! Please remember them as our lifeline for supplies!

18.01.2022 This Sunday 12 July is Seafarers Sunday, where we give thanks for the enduring and vital work of the Mission to Seafarers. Seafarers are an often forgotten abou...t group of workers who move 95% of Australia's goods. The pandemic has seriously affected their working conditions and wellbeing and they need support now more than ever. Please consider supporting the work of the Mission to Seafarers Darwin Inc, especially in gaining the funding to ensure that there is stability and longevity to support our seafarers. A fund-raiser devonshire tea will be served after the 9.00am service. Please consider sharing this post to gain much needed support for this vulnerable group who we rely on for our every day comforts. See more

15.01.2022 Request from Rev Richard Telfer and Darwin Emergency Response Chaplains to make some masks especially for children. We have an exciting opportunity to love and serve those who are in forced quarantine in Howard Springs. They need face masks. The people who are in quarantine need face masks to leave their rooms and meet other people in quarantine. What a great chance to show the world God’s love. We would love to send 316 masks in the next month. Let us flood the NT Governmen...t with an expression of God’s love in the face of COVID-19. It would be lovely if you included a message of hope, including who sent it. Please call 0437 909 990 or email [email protected] to let us know if you are making them and send your masks to: PO Box 246 Palmerston 0830 Here is a step by step tutorial: www.sewcanshe.com/blog/simple-step- by-step-tutorial-for-the-olson-mask-pattern. If you need some financial help, please let us know we have some funds available. Blessings Richard Telfer and the Emergency Relief Chaplains

08.01.2022 Clouds of Witnesses. Invitation to share in writing your short story about someone who has been important to you. What a wonderfully diverse group of people we are here at Christ Churchin age, in place of birth, in language backgroundand all growing in our understanding and appreciation of what being a Christian, and an Anglican, means for us here in this city in 2020, individually and as parish. Inevitably we don’t usually have much opportunity to share our thoughts and e...xperiences at a deep level. But we have all had people in our lives who have been important to us, places that we have lived in or visited that have affected us deeply, journeys (actual and inner)have shaped us. We are being invited to share these with one another in writing and hopefully grow more closely together in the process. First we are being invited to write about a person who has had an influence on our lives, either in person or through books or other media. Our contributions will be published as a booklet and on the cathedral website. This first booklet will be titled Clouds of Witnesses (see Hebrews 12:1, commenting on Hebrews 11). Please tell us about one such person in your life, in about 500 800 words. Send it by email to the cathedral office or write it down and give it the clergy or the usher in church by the end of July. And we will hope to have the booklet published at the end of August. Looking forward to reading it. Vivienne
