01.01.2022 Dear community members ANIC Halal Authority has been established by the Australian National Imams Council for the purpose of providing a transparent and trusted Halal certification source that serves the Muslim community. Messages have circulated on social media regarding the position of ANIC on gas stunning. ANIC Halal authority follows the global mainstream halal standards with regards to the slaughter of meat and poultry. There are no mainstream international Halal standar...ds that approve of or accept gas stunning, because the bird can be rendered a dead animal before slaughter (Maytah). A Maytah is impermissible to consume under Islamic sharia guidelines as Allah says in the Quran: And it has been prohibited upon you (to consume) the Maytah [5;3].
