24.01.2022 This doctor knows what he’s talking about!

24.01.2022 Weve been walking with a bit more swagger lately because weve got ourselves these super cool new Animal Companion bandanas or dogdanas as we like to call them! One of our very talented members was commissioned to make these for us and she has done a wonderful job. Its perfect for our visiting teams as it helps to identify them whilst still providing as much premium pat space as possible for residents. The dogdanas are modelled by Chief and Charlie

24.01.2022 AC New Volunteer Graduation May 2019. Congratulations and happy visiting .

24.01.2022 We are all dog people here so there is no denying that many of us have picked up the pace so we could catch up to say hello to the dog in front of us We know youve done it too! : RSPCA WA

22.01.2022 We had a very busy weekend with some of our amazing volunteers flying the animal therapy flag at the Giovanni Consort event, Rejoice of the Lamb concert and the SES Special Childrens Christmas Party! Great job teams!

22.01.2022 Did you know that German Shepherds are the 3rd smartest dog?! Because of that, they are often used within the military and police force but there are others like Chicka and Jess here who are making contributions in their own way as fantastic therapy dogs. I mean, will you look at Jess beautiful face, how could you not want to cuddle this gorgeous fluffball

22.01.2022 Not all of our dogs wear capes (dont get me wrong, theyre all superheroes to us) but all our volunteers wear these royal blue t-shirts that have the AC logo on them plus their offical visiting team ID badge. So if you happen to see one of us in one of the facilities that you happen to be in, please come up and say hello Emma and Butters

21.01.2022 THROW UP THURSDAY! If you own a dog, at some point you have had to give them a tablet or two and my gosh, what an event that can be! Whats your secret to getting pills down? Weve tried, peanut butter, deli meat and cheese...

20.01.2022 This cat seems to be a natural!

20.01.2022 Toddlers unite! An Early Childhood Festival (aka: Toddlerfest!) is currently on at Scitech and a few of our furry heros are making a special guest appearance throughout the week to share the excellent work that they do. Bruce and Muska have already popped in this week and both did an amazing job. We are so proud of these two . Toddlerfest is running daily from 10am - 2pm from 27th July to 4th August so be sure to check it out!

20.01.2022 Cute doggo alert! Meet Sophie the 12 y/o therapy dog who visits our Starlight Express Room at Perth Childrens Hospital every fortnight & is a crowd favourit...e! Her arrival is announced by Captain Starlight on Starlight TV & kids flock from the wards to the room for a pat & to see which outfit Sophie will be rocking as sometimes she wears threads designed by the patients! Therapy dogs provide a calming, welcome distraction for kids in hospital & are one of Captain Starlights favourite four-legged fluff-balls on Planet Earth

19.01.2022 Daisy and Rigsby have been visiting St John of God Bunbury Hospital for quite some time now and are the Pallative Paws bringing unconditional love to the palliative care patients. Check out this wonderful video that was made of them

19.01.2022 Our volunteers have been getting festive and spreading a lot of Christmas cheer across our facilities in both metro and regional WA. With Christmas just around the corner, wed like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year. What do you think Andy here is thinking? Comment below

18.01.2022 To be a therapy dog, you dont have to be a particular breed or come from a fancy breeder. Every dog is special in their own way and they all bring joy and excitement to those that they visit no matter what type of dog they are... They may also bring fits of laughter if we walked into our facilities like this guy! : Animal Physio Perth

18.01.2022 Small guys like Beau here can be great therapy dogs. Just because they may be too small for residents to reach from a wheelchair or to pat while standing up, they make fantastic bed buddies and lap companions. Beau loves hanging out at Joondalup Health Campus where he knows that sometimes there is nothing better than getting a little bedside cuddle from a furry friend.

17.01.2022 Look at those ears Im sure the residents at Rosewood Residential Aged Care love giving Darcy lots of pats and cuddles. Isnt he the cutest?! Happy Monday Everyone!

17.01.2022 The coronavirus outbreak sweeping the globe is unlike anything weve seen or faced before. Businesses are closing, planes are grounded, our borders have been slammed shut and our beloved facilities that we visit have gone into lockdown. As we isolate but not abandon our teams are being proactive to still bring a little joy to the residents that we usually visit....

16.01.2022 FRIDAY FACT: Interactions with therapy animals can decrease stress in humans. A 2001 study found that pet owning patients with high blood pressure could keep their blood pressure lower during times of stress than patients without pets. Dont have a pet? Thats ok, we have almost 200 members that do!

16.01.2022 This doctor knows what hes talking about!

16.01.2022 And this is why we do what we do

16.01.2022 A big shout out to one of wonderful volunteers Frankenstein who is going to be taking a break from visiting due to the impending arrival of a little brother or sister (of the human variety). Not surprisingly, he will be missed by Armadale Memorial Hospital who recently gave him and his owner Sarah a very Rock Star=esque send off! Good luck and see you both soon + 1

14.01.2022 An aged care home where pets are welcome.

14.01.2022 We know that animals boost the spirits of people young and old, we see it in the facilities we visit everyday. Read about how our very own Sophie has become the crowd favourite at Perth Childrens Hospital and watch the video to see the amazing difference she makes when she visits. Sophie we are so proud of you - never retire!

13.01.2022 Im sure youve all seen this a million times but we still find it just as funny as it was the first time. Our therapy dogs come in all shapes, sizes and various shades of toast... Untoasted Toasted Burnt Toasted with burnt crusts... Some are even toasted multigrain! What shade of toast is your dog? See more

12.01.2022 Come on down and meet some of our furry little therapists :)

12.01.2022 All of our members and their dogs are assessed to ensure that they have what it takes to go visiting. We also provide training for volunteers at a half day workshop plus after graduation, an experienced "buddy" accompanies every new team on their first visit at their facility. So the next time you see an AC team wandering down the hallway of your facility you can be confident in knowing that they have the skills and knowledge to ensure that their visits are a safe and enjoyable one for everyone involved.

12.01.2022 Even our most well behaved dogs like to push the boundaries sometimes but this guy takes the cake! How has your dog outsmarted you?

12.01.2022 Today is Thursday so we are throwing it back to a few weeks ago when it was National Volunteers Week. Our AC Member Chris got such a nice surprise when she and her dog Willow were given dog biscuits and chocolates (in that order) from Dale Cottages as a thank you for everything they do. Well Done ladies, youre doing a great job!

11.01.2022 Every dog wants to sniff, they enjoy exploring the world through the use of their nose because their sense of smell is so powerful. Its important to let your dog to sniff but there also needs to be a balance so try teaching them commands such as "go sniff" that allow them to sniff away and "lets go" to continue on with your walk. Its a happy compromise and it wont take you a million years to get where you need to go. Happy weekend walkies everyone!

10.01.2022 Are we right or are we right?! When we visit our facilities we often bring treats with us that are both human and dog friendly just in case any of the residents attempt to have an afternoon snack. When that happens, the look on our pooches faces looks something like this

09.01.2022 We are devastated to see our beautiful country in a crisis such as this. Animal Companions are getting behind our fellow Australians by supporting those affected by the bushfires on the east coast. We have donated $500 to RSPCA Victoria and RSPCA New South Wales. We hope this small contribution can assist making the lives of our furry, feathery or scaly friends a little easier Please stay safe everyone.

08.01.2022 Lucy loves her job and we love Lucy

07.01.2022 At EMHS we are committed to high quality care and delivering what matters most to our patients, and sometimes thats a visit from a pet therapy dog. Patients, v...isitors and staff on Bentley Hospitals Ward 4 enjoyed some one-on-one time with the lovely Sarbi and her owner Linda today, who both volunteer with Animal Companions Inc Everyones spirits were lifted by Sarbis sweet and friendly nature and her pink bow! Thank you Sarbi, Linda and all the Animal Companions volunteers for taking the time to visit our patients, and brighten their day.

07.01.2022 Harley has been part of our AC family since 2013 so he knows the drill. He gets dressed up ready for his visit (see how smart he looks!) and when he arrives, he settles in next to a few residents happily listening to the classics on the radio with them . You see Harley is no spring chicken now either, he turns 13 this year and after recently undergoing spinal surgery for a ruptured disk he enjoys the simple things in life but just like all dogs still has that little bit of puppy in him that comes out every now and again. We Harley

05.01.2022 Animal Companions tagged along to a visit with Jemma Cauchi and Frankie at Amana Livings Lady McClusker Home in Duncraig. We couldnt leave without popping in to see one of Frankies biggest fans. Check it out!

04.01.2022 Weve heard of horses visiting nursing homes but alpacas is definitely a new one!

03.01.2022 Meet our new volunteers! Now that theyve graduated, it starts to get exciting: 1. Each volunteer is allocated an awaiting facility within their local area. 2. An orientation visit is then organised with the OT to show them around etc 3. Finally each volunteer is given a "buddy" who is an experienced AC member who will accompany them on their first visit ... Welcome lovely new members! See more

03.01.2022 Weve been saying that patting a dog reduces stress for a while but now there is proof!

01.01.2022 We know that most of you have water constantly trailed throughout your house. You can thank us later for stumbling upon this awesome idea
