25.01.2022 The gorgeous baby German Shepherd, "Kai" recently underwent surgery with a specialist surgeon to correct a growth abnormality in his front legs. As you can see, he is not bothered at all by his new blue legs and the nurses at the specialist hospital clearly loved him as much as we do! (They made little hearts to go over his bandages). Everyone here at The Animal Medical Centre is looking forward to following Kai's progress as he recovers and giving him plenty of cuddles (as therapy of course!) on his revisits.
24.01.2022 "Tae" the beautiful Brittany Spaniel had an emergency visit with Dr Dilly after playing too exuberantly with her buddies in the paddock. Radiographs confirmed her hip was out and Dr Sandra and Dr Dilly worked together to put it back in place. She now has regular nurse visits for laser therapy to speed up the healing process and to ensure the hip stays in place. We hope she has a speedy recovery so she can get back to playing but hopefully stay out of trouble.
24.01.2022 Gorgeous little "Peggy" recently had a visit with Dr Amanda-Lee as she was having some trouble with her ears. It was confirmed she had an infection and she went home with some ear drops to clear it up. If your dog has discomfort around his or her ears it's a good idea to have them checked! The signs to watch out for include any rubbing, scratching and pawing at the ears as well as any unusual odours or discharge. If you notice any of these signs, give us a call on 6285 2637 to make an appointment.
21.01.2022 Although unlucky in the kidney department, Miss Yoshi, Dr Amanda-Lee's favourite Akita patient is always up for a high five when there's treats involved.
21.01.2022 The Animal Medical Centre is a great supporter of the ACT Companion Dog Club and the great work that they do, especially being an organisation nearly solely run by volunteers. We were fortunate enough to proivde some wonderful goodies to the ACT Companion Dog Club a few weeks ago for their Flyball Competition that was held at the RSPCA's Million Paws Walk on Sunday May 15th. The winner of the goodies bag went home with some tasty food and flea & tick prevention for her pooch.... Congratulations! See more
19.01.2022 A huge 'thank you' must be extended to everyone who came to support us at Floriade yesterday and to our generous sponsors, Hills Science Diet, Royal Canin and Petbarn Woden. We had a wonderful time, so much so we spent all our time talking to dogs and their owners and neglected to take photos! We gave away around 300 show bags, discussed countless dogs' oral health, replenished water bowls with 15L of water, offered a jumbo pack's worth of liver treats, judged one Best Dressed Dog (and owner!), and gave and received scores of doggie cuddles. Our feline friends weren't forgotten as they too received some sample bags. Now we look forward to our next community event!
19.01.2022 Thank you for helping us reach 400 likes!!!
17.01.2022 Come say hi to our wonderful head nurse Dani at Petbarn today between 11:00-13:00. Dani is hoping to answer all your questions, give away lots of free stuff and of course give plenty cuddles to our four legged friends!
17.01.2022 Congratulations to our latest Puppy Party Graduates; Buddy, Choco, Emmi (absent), Zoe and of course their wonderful families that have all done such a fantastic job in raising their puppies! We were lucky enough to have the lovely Heather from ACT Companion Dog Club come and speak to our new graduates about further training now that they have successfully completed their first training program with the Animal Medical Centre. With another group of puppies and owners ready to t...ake on their next exciting new adventure, we are looking for some new puppies to join us in our next Puppy Party which we are hoping to start in mid July. If you have recently added to your family with a young furry friend or know someone that has, give us a call to enrol in our next Puppy Party. Another big congratulations to our beautiful graduates!

15.01.2022 Our practice manager, Fiona, will be at Petbarn Majura from 12.45pm today to answer your questions, check your pet's oral health, advise what to do with any lumps that you have noticed on your pet, in fact, she would be delighted to help you in any way possible whilst giving away cuddles for your pet! Come and visit Fiona at her pop-up stand and score a goodie bag!
14.01.2022 It's not all dogs and cats at The Animal Medical Centre, sometimes we come across a very special patient! Astro-Charlie (lovingly named by Nurse Zac and Dr. Dilly) a cheeky juvenile Crimson Rosella was brought into us by a kind member of the public after being attacked by a cat. Astro-Charlie presented to us unable to fly and also had some puncture wounds on the rear, Nurse Zac decided to take Astro-Charlie under his wing to nurse our feathery friend back to health. After o...ne week of antibiotics and strict rest, Astro-Charlie was definitely on the mend however was still having trouble taking flight so Dr. Dilly decided to yesterday perform x-rays with the help of Nurses Grace and Zac to ensure there were no broken bones. Luckily Astro-Charlie's radiographs came back all clear and Dr. Dilly's orders are bed rest and rehabilitation. With the help of ACT Wildlife and Nurse Zac, Astro-Charlie will soon be released back into the wild good as new!

12.01.2022 We are very fortunate to have a team of exceptional nurses who go above and beyond their duty of care to make our patients comfortable. When Milly had to stay in hospital far too long for her liking, our very innovative head nurse Dani decided to extend her cage so she didn't feel too left out

09.01.2022 'Roar!' Dr Dilly managed to expand her resume today and added Official Lion Tamer to her vast array of qualifications as she treated the gorgeous Feral here to a Cartrophen injection to help him stay comfortable through the cold Winter months. If your pet suffers with aches and pains during the Winter months, drop in and talk to one of our friendly staff members about options to keep your fur babies comfortable through the cold Canberra season.
09.01.2022 Happy Vet Nurse Day to all our super awesome nurses who work extremely hard to make our lives easier and keep our patients comfortable!!!
08.01.2022 This is "Kai", the handsome 10 week old German Shepherd puppy that had a visit with Dr Sandra Hassett. As you can imagine he got plently of cuddles during his short stay with us this morning! He was also a big fan of the squeaky pig and made sure he inspected every corner of the clinic before he left! So adorable!
08.01.2022 We hope all the beautiful mums out there are having an amazing Mother's Day!
07.01.2022 Our second Puppy Party for 2016 kicked off last night with 4 gorgeous puppies and their attentive owners. Nurse Zac covered topics this week such as socialisation, bite inhibition, toilet training and we even begun to teach our clever puppies how to sit! We can't wait to watch Emmi, Choco, Zoe & Buddy grow over the next 5 weeks and the years to come. 07.01.2022 We were treated to snuggles galore with a visit from these two gorgeous rabbits, Azu and Toto who came in for an AMC manicure (AKA nail trim). Dr Amanda-Lee and both nurses Dani and Zac ensured these two went home with lovely trimmed nails whilst meeting their cuddle quota for the day!
06.01.2022 Do you think your pet suffers from food allergies? Dr Dilly's cat Bowie had severe allergies that couldn't be controlled with prescription low allergen diets or allergy medications. He was losing weight, had bloody diarrhoea and lost most of his hair until we sent a saliva sample to a lab in USA to identify exactly what he was allergic to. Bowie is now on a strict home cooked diet and his diarrhoea has resolved, hair has grown back, he's gaining weight and both mum and son ...are extremely happy. If you have any concerns, feel free to discuss with one of our vets if NutriScan saliva test will benefit your pet.
05.01.2022 "Dug" the Pug has been a regular visitor at the clinic since he was a baby. His wonderful owner sent us this cute photo of him celebrating his first birthday recently!
05.01.2022 They say every dog has its day, well today is Rogan's day! The handsome Rogan is celebrating his 14th birthday today (85 in human years!!) and we got a special birthday visit complete with cupcakes baked by Rogan's Mum. We are privileged at The Animal Medical Centre that we get to watch so many of our lovely patients grow from babies all the way up to seniors.... Happy birthday Rogan, love all your friends at The Animal Medical Centre
05.01.2022 Have you heard? The Animal Medical Centre has extended its Saturday opening hours! We are now open until 4:00pm on Saturday afternoons making visits to us even easier Our temporary receptionist Cedric, was keen to share the news with some of our lovely clients on Thursday afternoon after visiting with Nurses Dani and Zac to have a bandage removed.
05.01.2022 Young Rusty came to see us last week as he had been vomiting for a few days, not every interested in food (which is very unusual for him) and wasn't quite himself. Radiographs of the abdomen showed a blockage in the intestine. Emergency surgery was done to remove what looked to be a piece of rubber and he is back to his normal bouncy self now. His family is yet to work out where he found this tasty piece of rubber!
04.01.2022 The ever so stylish Feral came in to see Dr Dilly today for his three monthly check up. We couldn't help but take a sneaky picture of him in his new hat
04.01.2022 48 years is a long time (that's 340 in dog years!) and after 48 years the Animal Medical Centre would like to wish our wonderful Office Manager, Judy the very best of luck in her well-earned retirement. After many years of Judy's friendly smile greeting us all as we walk through the door, it will certainly take some adjustment to Judy no longer being a part of the team here at the Animal Medical Centre. Judy has provided clients throughout the years with nothing but kindes...s, advice, support, knowledge, wisdom and at times, a shoulder to cry on in times of sorrow. To our team, Judy has been nothing short of a blessing - she has been a mentor in times of doubt, a friend in times of need and an advisor in times of uncertainty as well as providing us with priceless memories of happiness that all of us will cherish. Judy's last day with AMC will be Thursday 28th of April - be sure to pop in and help us in wishing Judy every happiness in her retirement.
03.01.2022 Did you know it's Dogs' Day Out at Floriade today? Dr Amanda-Lee will present a talk on dental health (at 12.30pm) and practice manager Fiona will perform nurse consultations (from 12 pm), both will be handing out show bags! Our lovely team had been hard at work filling these bags with goodies so do come and say "hello". We acknowledge the generous donations of Hills Science Diet, Royal Canin and Petbarn Woden.
02.01.2022 The facelift is taking place today! The facade may be experiencing changes but our commitment to you, your pet and excellence in veterinary medicine remain unchanged. If your pet needs its vaccination or tick prevention prior to the busy Christmas period, call us on 6285 2637 and our friendly team would be more than happy to assist you!
