25.01.2022 Janet has reached 50.72% of the target. Many thanks for to all the donors who have made it possible

24.01.2022 Hi everyone, a quick catch up on Tuesdays walk. Janet displayed her amazing determination to walk 30.46 km into an unbelievable strong headwind. Janet described the walking really hard going : I was almost horizontal at times. Janet is almost inaudible as she posted the video. http://www.animalaidabroad.org/walk-across-aus http://www.facebook.com/animalaidabroadwalk... http://www.gofundme.com/walking-for-working-animals ABN: 84 865 073 587| Reg. 24.01.2022 Jacks blog Today my 2 legged mum and I hit 3000 km mark covering 3014.29 since leaving Melbourne. Youd think there would be a sausage roll or two to mark the occasion but sadly, not one. Poor planning on the part of my human family but Im a very forgiving guy. Ive been told only another 110 km and 3 sleeps and I will get my sausage roll from the Balladonia Roadhouse. Cant wait! The last two days have been tough going with strong winds and warmer weather but we pushed th...rough it, big pawsome thanks to Martin who gave us great support, we couldnt do it without him. I saw some of my other animal mates yesterday including a couple of dingoes and some camels in the distance. I always enjoy finishing my day and seeing Martin and my van. I especially love my bed and appreciate how Martin fluffs up my bedding so its super cosy at night. I still dont walk during the heat of the day but watch and wait ever so patiently until I get the okay to walk again. Im not only forgiving but also a very patient guy, they are so lucky to have me! Until my next canine update ... Jack See more

21.01.2022 Janet has just sent an update on the last 6 days since leaving Nullarbor Roadhouse. She left the Roadhouse on Monday and arrived today (Saturday) at the WA Border Village, where they are staying overnight. They will head to Norseman tomorrow for 14 days of self isolation. The last 6 days of walking along the cliffs has been an amazing experience. Janet surprisingly met a lone camel along the way who checked her out. The three are all going well, despite Janets feet still hu...rting. Janet had a couple of tough days on this stretch, but has got through it. 20.01.2022 There is no news from Janet and Martin because they are crossing an area of the Nullarbor without mobile reception. They should be back in range after walking the 180 km section to the WA border. They are aiming to be at the border by Saturday.

19.01.2022 This is the interview Janet did on GWN7 news. https://www.facebook.com/271773546172335/posts/3988014837881502/?vh=e

19.01.2022 Janet is back on the road, and sharing her quest on Channel Tens Studio Ten. This is the link to the interview. https://10play.com.au//walking-for-working-/tpv200818sbmlp Jack enjoyed his brief moment of stardom on national TV so much that he rolled over on his back in delight. Janet has restarted her walk from the WA Border yesterday and stayed overnight in Eucla. 18.01.2022 Please enjoy the video below, put together by Talitha Huston ( daughter of an AAA committee member) that highlights Janet and Jacks Walk Across Australia and their mission to raise awareness and funds to improve the lives of thousands of working animals around the globe and build an animal shelter in Mannar, Sri Lanka.

17.01.2022 Janet expects to reach the Nullarbor Roadhouse tonight (Sat25th). Experiencing sunny weather she has made rapid progress covering over 40 km a day. The dirt tracks have run out, so Janet is walking mainly along the bitumen Eyre Highway. 16.01.2022 Jacks Blog Well Im very happy to report that myself and my human family reached Norseman yesterday ( which is named after another great animal, a horse, who found gold in these parts ). My human mum and I walked into town covering just under 20km, concluding this stretch of the Eyre Highway. I met a new human pal yesterday, his name is Lynn Webb and he took some drone footage of us walking towards Norseman. I will send a couple of pics through that he took. The drone footag...e should have out to you in a few days. We spent most of yesterday helping Lynn fix his car (thanks to Martin who was more useful than myself or my mum) and had a good chin wag with him about his life as a professional photographer in Norseman and beyond. We checked out his gallery and were blown away by his amazing pictures. Check it out: www.lynneebb.com.au I also reunited yesterday with another of my best pals, Louise who runs the Acclaim Tourist Park. She even made a special welcome back to Norseman sign for me. Anyway gotta go have my midday snooze before hitting the road again tomorrow for Coolgardie. See more

16.01.2022 Jacks Blog....,.weve just had 3 big days walking covering 120.74 km since leaving Norseman on Monday. We have about 50 km to go until we reach Coolgardie and my next sausage roll. Since leaving Norseman on Monday weve been following mostly the gas pipeline track that runs alongside the Esperance- Coolgardie Hwy. Definitely a change of scenery from the Nullarbor with a lot more trees, hills and even salt lakes and dry creek beds to cross. My human mum keeps telling to be on... the lookout for a gold nugget or two... she said that will definitely guarantee a lifetime of sausage rolls!!! http://www.animalaidabroad.org/walk-across-aus http://www.facebook.com/animalaidabroadwalk http://www.gofundme.com/walking-for-working-animals ABN: 84 865 073 587| Reg. 16.01.2022 Janet, Martin and Jack drove 730 km today to reach Norseman from the WA Border. They stopped along the way several times to move dead kangaroos off the road because the wedge tail eagles who feed on the carcases are too slow to escape the speeding trucks. They also met a few locals at the Madura Roadhouse and Eucla. Further along at Caiguna Roadhouse they met an Australian guy, Hamish who has been cycling around the world for 5 years and is on his final leg to Melbourne! The...y gave him water and snacks and had a good chat. Finally they made it to the Gateway Caravan Park in Norseman. The Park is managed by Louise who is very welcoming and animal loving. Louise not only has a menagerie of wild free birds, but also welcomes travellers pets. During their 14 day quarantine they have to wear masks and gloves when they are outside the RV and have to have food and supplies delivered to them at the park. Following the 14 day quarantine Janet will return to the WA Border to complete the remaining 1450 km to Perth. 16.01.2022 Well Im on my 11th day of self-isolation in Norseman and only 3 days to go before Im free to hit the bakeries and check out whos been walking on my highway!! This isolation craic is not too bad but could do with a few more sausage rolls but the extra tummy rubs more than make up for this. Its the least I can do to keep all my mates in WA free of this corona virus. We get our daily visits from our friendly Norseman coppers who keep us on the straight and narrow but not ...sure why they are not scratching my belly or bringing me a sausage roll or two, then they would be really doing a great job! We are allowed to exercise so my human mum does loops around the park with her mask and gloves on, its a bit of a funny sight because here I am in tow and we are basically just going around in circles. Not the best look for a Walk Across Australia dog! Our groceries were delivered to my van the other day which I inspected ( I would make a great sniffer dog ) but not one sausage roll, Ive made a note to take over this role next time round. Cant tell you how many times I tell my human mum, no sausage rolls no walking! We get our clearance letter in 3 days and then will give a fond farewell to Louise at the Gateway Caravan Park. Louise has been very good to me and she knows how to give a good tummy rub so shes big in my books. Till my next update.... 16.01.2022 On the last two walking days, Janet covered 40.1km and 38.70 km to arrive at Nullabor Roadhouse ahead of schedule. The previous landscape of flora with trees along the Eyre Highway, changed to low lying saltbush and bluebush. Janet is feeling very much part of the community as word gets around about her walk. The truckers in their roadtrains often give her a wave and give her plenty of space as they pass. Today the trio enjoyed their rest day by going out to the Head of the B...ight to watch the amazing Southern Right whales with their calves. They met interesting and friendly travellers as well as the local mother dingo who was hanging around the truck stop area. 16.01.2022 Janet covered 42.62 km in 8 hours to reach Madura today. She has covered 201.66 km since leaving the border on Monday. Janet humbly said: Hi everyone, finally arrived Madura and reception late this arvo covering about 190 km since leaving the border on Monday at 4.30pm. My feet and shoes are having a day off tomorrow. We are all good but v tired. Hope you are all good your way. http://www.animalaidabroad.org/walk-across-aus... http://www.facebook.com/animalaidabroadwalk http://www.gofundme.com/walking-for-working-animals ABN: 84 865 073 587| Reg. 15.01.2022 A big thank you to all the supporters for their donations to Janets Walk Across Australia.

15.01.2022 Monday 31st August Jacks blog Today my human mum and I conquered the 146 km straight stretch of road ( longest in Australia) ... I can definitely report not one kink in the road!! Its been a tough few days walking with only low scrub and a few trees our constant vista. I had a few dingoes on my patch but I think they know Im in town after marking my territory as we went along. We came across another road traveller yesterday who was cycling his solar powered bike across Au...stralia. We are all looking forward to hitting Balladonia tomorrow especially me where I will have my long awaited sausage roll. Today we covered 43.57 km and yesterday 41.36km. Tuesday 1st September Jacks blog We arrived at Balladonia Roadhouse after covering 35.45 km by track and bitumen. Today passed the old abandoned Balladonia homestead plus a burned out area which still has not recovered, it must of been a very hot fire. I finally got my sausage roll in the end so all is well in my world again!!! Takes very little to keep me happy and content!

14.01.2022 Janet will arrive today at City Beach, 11-12pm

14.01.2022 Janet arrived at Mundrabilla roadhouse yesterday. It is probably the only phone reception she will have for the next few days. Despite the head winds she covered 38 km along the track adjacent to the Eyre Highway. Janet never ceases to amaze with her determination and stamina. http://www.animalaidabroad.org/walk-across-aus http://www.facebook.com/animalaidabroadwalk... http://www.gofundme.com/walking-for-working-animals ABN: 84 865 073 587| Reg. 14.01.2022 Jacks blog Finally reached Cocklebiddy Roadhouse today and had my much awaited sausage roll. I had it as soon as we arrived and it was hand delivered by the Roadhouse cook. I even got a pat from the cook when I sat on his foot and used his leg as a leaning post. Humans have many uses! Since leaving Madura Roadhouse my two legged mum covered 92.85 km and I walked about 50 km... pretty good effort given I only do the morning and late afternoon shift. I would do more but my... mum says I need to rest up and not walk in the heat of the day. I have to stay on the lead now along the tracks because there is a lot of 1080 baits around. Not my preferred means to walk across Australia but Ive been told no lead, no walk.... I think they call this tough love! They got me a muzzle but after numerous attempts gave up because I kept pulling it off...so looks like the lead won! On the way to Cocklebiddy we came across lots of bob tails sunning themselves, a couple of kangaroos, lots of birds and two sheep. We had blue skies, good track and no mishaps so makes for a good leg of our journey. Tomorrow we head off to Caiguna Roadhouse which should only take two days. Until next update... 14.01.2022 Thank you for all the donations . Janet has now reached 46.65% of her target for the suffering working animals abroad.

14.01.2022 Jacks Blog... Well we did the last stretch into Coolgardie today covering just over 22km although we have no strava reading because my human mum lost it!!! Anyway I did my best to cheer her up and let her know its one of those things that is just not that important ... she got it in the end! Once arriving into Coolgardie I had a pretty good home made sausage roll and a refreshing bowl of water at this pawsome Coolgardie cafe. I waited patiently at the door while my order was... placed ( photos attached) because strangely humans think dogs are unhygienic in food places... humans have me scratching my big head quite often with their strange rules! Janet had a pretty good track all the way from Norseman following a pipeline and as of today covered 3500.28 km since leaving Melbourne. Tomorrow they head off on the Great Eastern Hwy towards Southern Cross. Perth here we come!! 13.01.2022 Jacks Walk Across Australia Blog My name is Jack and Im walking across Australia with my human mum, Janet, to raise awareness and funds for my working animal friends who do it really tough in many poor regions and countries around the world. When my human mum first pitched the mad cap mission to me, I had my doubts, given I was fast becoming a pampered pooch with an expanding waist line and city paws. However, as soon as I heard there was lots of walking, hours to nap, car... rides, five star cuisine and accommodation plus trips to the bakery, I was sold! My life didnt start too well. I ended up unwanted in the Geraldton pound ( regional city north of Perth) but things turned around when I was rescued by the Shenton Park Dog Home in Perth who really got me on my paws and were very good to me! In April 2019, life got even better when I found my forever home with Janet and Martin who adopted me. I will never forget my first night in my nice warm home with my own deluxe king size dog bed and a delicious cooked meal.does life get any better?! I am a handsome strong 40 kg + boy who knows how to give my family a good work out [ forget personal trainers and gym]. I also know how to give big cuddles, laughs and companionship, when I have to accompany my family to the many coffee shops and bakeries especially on our walk across Australia. I keep thinking how lucky they are to have a guy like me! My Walk Across Australia for Working Animals has had many many highlights but the stand outs include my daily walks [ I normally do the morning and late afternoon shift while my mum lets me have a few hours rest, while she keeps walking ], co-driver duties with Martin [ boy do we get some looks!!] visits to the bakeries [ I love my sausage rolls] and the many great smells and places I am visiting while walking across this great country. Before I sign off, I just want to give a big high five thanks and plug to Animal Aid Abroad Inc [ Australia] [www.animalaidabroad.org ], Shenton Park Dog Home [ https://www.dogshome.org.au] Royal Canin Australia [https://www.royalcanin.com/au], Pet Fresh [ www.petfresh.com.au], Dental Vet who donated Jacks first bag of Royal Canin dog biscuits. http://dentalvet.com.au/ Esperance Pet Shop [https://www.facebook.com/esperance.petshop/] and Peekaboo Dog Rescue in Mandurah [m.facebook.com/peekaboorescuemandurah/]. Do give them a call if you want a great fella like me [ Shenton Park and Peekaboo] or yummy highly nutritious food [Royal Canin and Pet Fresh] or other pet products and food [ Esperance Pet Shop].These guys have really looked after me! Big woof from me... Jack Walk Across Australia Animal Aid Abroad Inc. [ Australia]

13.01.2022 Jacks blog... Well I’m down to one sleep before I see my Perth mates tomorrow and hit the finish line. We had a great day walking today, sun was out, almost no wind and the temperature didn’t go above 20 degrees, perfect!! My foot is getting much better but the bandaging skills of my family leaves a lot to be desired.... I give them points for effort! We covered just over 38 km today leaving Mt Helena early, a pit stop in Mundaring to drop some gear to Janette and Yarnda, th...en continued down the scarp to finish in Ascot this evening. So on that note...catch you all tomorrow. 13.01.2022 Jack wanted to add a very special thank you to Martin , especially with Fathers day coming up! A big high five paw to Martin who continues to spoil me rotten with cooked veggies and special food each night. He says its important for my strength and stamina so I can make it across Australia. Hes my dear two legged dad .

12.01.2022 Janet related this story about a dog called Lizzie, who is a legend at the Gateway Caravan Park, Norseman where Janet, Martin and Jack are doing their 14 day self isolation. There is a grave smack bang in the middle of the park where Lizzie the dog is buried. She was owned by a permanent resident of the park who died but was fortunately rehomed to another local. She would come back to the park every Friday night ( they put it down to the park residents having happy hour every Friday evening ) but one Friday evening she was hit and killed by a car just outside the caravan park. She was loved by everyone and they had her cremated and she has a beautiful very well cared for grave right in the middle of the park with her photo and story.

12.01.2022 Janet was made to feel very welcome during her amazing stay at the Nullabor Roadhouse. It was like an oasis on the Nullabor plain thanks to the hospitality of the managers, Adrian and Lana. Not only did they provide great meals and coffee but did a wonderful job of making Janet and Martin welcome. The Nullabor is a very special place with The Head of the Bite Whale Centre a must place to visit. The manager, Gary is a really great bloke and coupled with the many kind travellers there, made Janet and Martins stay a memorable one. Thank you also to some very kind travellers who were interested in the Walk and made donations.

12.01.2022 Jack & I just wanted to say a BIG PAWSOME AWESOME thank you to all our amazing donors, friends, family & supporters who stuck with us over the past 6 months as we walked across Australia in aid of working animals. We can’t thank you enough for all your support and donations and thanks to you we can continue to help not just hundreds, but thousands of working animals in need. What we do is because of YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT!!! Much pawsome awesome heartfelt thanks , Janet & Jack Have a look at our current total!! Our walk fundraiser is open to the end of October when we will announce our GRAND TOTAL on Friday 30th October. PS A big thank you too to George Manos from Adelaide who has been keeping you posted on our travels for the past 6 months on our walk Facebook page. High five George!

11.01.2022 Janet & Jake are now walking through Perth to their final destination at City Beach. Well done Janet, Martin and of course Jack!

11.01.2022 Thank you to all of the generous supporters of the Walk Across Australia for working animals - the fundraising tally has now reached $110,577.73! #walkacrossaustralia4animals

09.01.2022 Jacks Blog As we approach our final day in isolation Im getting a bit sad because Im going to miss Louise, the Caravan Park Manager who has spoiled me rotten!! Just the other day she brought me 3 sausage rolls. I had one with my dinner last night but my two legged mum says too many is not good for my waistline. Hoping one will be on the menu again tonight! Luckily I will get to see Louise again when we come back through Norseman after walking from the WA border. It will ...be in about 3 weeks time. Today I received my clearance ( see pic attached) to travel from Constable Kate Honey, another one of my many admirers including a visit by another friendly Norseman copper yesterday who were doing their checks on my two legged family. Tomorrow we can leave and will restock the fridge and cupboards including mine of course, refuel etc before leaving first thing Monday morning back to the WA border. Something interesting to note, Norseman is named after another 4 legged animal called Hardy Norseman. The horse allegedly kicked a gold nugget gold which triggered the gold rush to the district. Its starting to warm up and the flies are getting friendlier so setting off earlier now. Jack continues to do the morning leg before he knocks off for his midday siesta. 08.01.2022 Janet has now raised 48.68% of the target. Thank you to all the people who have so kindly made donations.

08.01.2022 Jacks blog.... well we are making good time and still tracking well to be arriving at City Beach on Sunday Oct 4. As of today we have only 460 km to go! Since leaving Coolgardie on Monday we have covered 110km with only 80km to our next town, Southern Cross and a well deserved sausage roll. We had a warm day yesterday so I laid low keeping Martin company in the van but today I was on fire and walked most of the day because it was much cooler. Weve been mostly following t...he water pipe line with some bitumen stretches thrown in too. Bye for now from the road, Jack http://www.animalaidabroad.org/walk-across-aus http://www.facebook.com/animalaidabroadwalk http://www.gofundme.com/walking-for-working-animals ABN: 84 865 073 587| Reg. 08.01.2022 Final Jacks blog...Well we made it and my family and I want to say a BIG PAWSOME HIGH FIVE thank you to everyone who came today to see us in on World Animal Day. Even a few of my pals turned up to see me get over the line. The streamers and poppers gave me a bit of a scare but I pulled myself together and walked over the line. Kirsten from Dental Vet made me the biggest and yummiest sausage roll ever, I could hardly contain myself. Pogo, a miniature donkey also came to see me... today. I loved him but he didn’t want to play which I thought strange! Thanks to Margaret from Tipperary Donkey Stud who brought him all the way from York to see us. Thanks also to the amazing AAA Committee- Jenny, Colleen, Janette, Kirsten, Sylvia and Di who did a super job with putting on today and gave us lots of support including throughout our walk. Special thanks also to Colleen who made a fantastic cake for the humans and Janette who made me a jacket that said my name is Jack and I’ve walked across Australia for Animal Aid Abroad. Also to all my human extended family who were there to give us a high five and hug plus the many other AAA friends, supporters and pawsome mates... you are all top class in my book. We will give you another update next week on what we have raised so far. We can tell you, our final km’s are in and my family make it 4142.23 km walked from Melbourne to Perth. See more

07.01.2022 The latest update. Thank you to all the donors which have enabled Janet to have raised 47.26% of her target.

07.01.2022 Janet had a great encounter at Madura, meeting Kim and Jacqui and their 4 male camels, whom they are trekking with to the WA Border and then back.
