24.01.2022 Just mounted up this springbok ram. Getting a nice amount of African work into the shop. A dream goal, finally being achieved.

22.01.2022 Almost ready to go!

21.01.2022 Scrapper fallow buck finished off this afternoon. Torn ears and scars add character.

20.01.2022 Waiting for supplies, i managed to get my Western Vic Sambar deer pair completed.

19.01.2022 As of today, all 'pet' mounts are 75% deposit & any euro skull mounts on plaques to be 100% paid upfront. No exceptions.

18.01.2022 Velvet chital wall ped from a shoulder form finished the past week. Many times, no form is the 'right' size.

18.01.2022 I would give up trophy hunting reds after this guy. Free range, bow hunted red stag. It took my client 3 years to finally get him. Covered in scars and wounds, and given a custom made wall pedestal made from an elk shoulder mount form to really show off not just his huge 8kg detachable antlers, but also his extra large body size. Back finished with soft leather.

16.01.2022 After 1/2 dozen fresh foxes. Will pay bounty price and pickup within 30klm Raglan. Only using front half , no head shots. (Prefer a couple at a time).pm if able to assist please.

16.01.2022 Custom tahr wall ped. Covered in 6 inch scars under his neck, scabs on his face, a broomed off left horn and a deformed left ear. This guy was a fighter. So pleased the client wanted to keep him 'as is'. Finished off with a rock and snow effect to the back of the shoulder, just like where he was shot.

16.01.2022 NZ Red stag remount. Client bought in a mount he was - "too embarrassed to hang on the wall". He got no where with his complaints to the company in NZ - and asked if i could remount it as it had been hidden in a cupboard for 2 years. The mount was in such bad condition I asked if it had been hung over a fireplace. No - the work was only 2 years old. The previous taxidermist did such a poor job from no basic prep work to the lacking 'finish', and unfortunately, it put the owner off another roaring mount totally as well. After fixing the broken skull cap and getting a replacement cape work begun. Hopefully he's happy with my work. *edit, this was a free range head taken after a full days ride into the area.

15.01.2022 Hog deer wall pedestal i knocked up from a shoulder mount form.

14.01.2022 Pacific black duck. A gift for my friend, Gordon Scicluna aka Charlie, who helped me out with some ducks to practice on, 4 or 5 years ago. (this is one of them).

14.01.2022 Pinky. Missing some of his neck but that worked out ok with this resting pose. Artificial head. Client provided slab.

14.01.2022 Boar. Didn't get a chance to take nice pictures before it was picked up. ><

13.01.2022 One of my own finally finished. Steenbok and Jackal skull. Altered a straight walking form into a leap.

13.01.2022 Immature, albino hare. Hare was given to me gut shot, gutted and bloody. Bit of slip but she's mounted. (Please dont gut anything for the taxidermist and freeze asap)

13.01.2022 Kudu shoulder mount with horn restoration. Original horns over boiled and burnt, cracked & dry looking. Its a bit more work but worth it in the end.

12.01.2022 I have written a guide for those wanting a simple & quick method to skin foxes, and anything else with hair longer than an inch, using the dorsal cut. (I've done full deer with this method). Its got pictures to help also. Not every taxidermist might like this method so ask yours what they prefer. :) It can be found on my main website, on the download page at animalarttaxidermy.com.au or use the link below and save to your computer or phone.... http://www.animalarttaxidermy.com.au//Skinning%20your%20fo

12.01.2022 Red fox mounted up this morning. Looking forward to my first red fox pedestal class next weekend!!!

11.01.2022 Mountain duck that will be hanging from a rafter type structure.

11.01.2022 Seeking a mature high country sambar cape, 27/28 inch neck minimum. Tanned preferred but will take a fresh one. No split ears, some body scars OK. Cash or trade discount.

11.01.2022 Blesbok & Hartebeest pedestal mount. Hand made African map from left over zebra skin.

11.01.2022 Gemsbok wall ped and blue wildebeest completed for a client today. Horrid tanning job on these. Please store your tanned skins in a freezer for longevity. They will breakdown stored in the wardrobe, cupboard overtime.

10.01.2022 There's been a fair bit of baiting going on about a taxidermists choice of methods in mounting. I'm just going to leave this here. This is a 2 year old mount with an ear liner 'installed'. The mount was not kept over a fire place or a shed without insulation etc. etc. The client did ask the original company, (ironically the most vocal and annoying complainer about any other methods than their own), to fix it but was refused, so he bought it to me.... Just because an ear liner is used, it doesn't mean the finish is superior, longer lasting, more creative, more detailed or the person responsible did it correctly. "They bend if dropped", I hear, yes, but dry, glued skin doesn't - what's the point? Lets face it - its cost effective, end of story. If you want to throw stones - make sure your glass house is well protected too. I'm done with this bullshit ear methods baiting argument between taxidermists. Do what's right for you and your clients. None of my clients have ever complained over the last 25 years with my methods, attention to detail and finish work. And if they did, I'd sort it.

10.01.2022 Interested in learning how to mount a fox pedestal mount? (Fancy freestanding shoulder mount). Watch this space for details of a weekend class on site, limited to six people only. Aimed at the beginner. :)

08.01.2022 Finished off some little antelope today. Springbok, reedbuck, Steenbok & Bush duiker.

07.01.2022 Ready to go. Wall & Desk mount euro sambar.

07.01.2022 Some ring neck pheasant mounts. It was a joy working with both the male and female of the species. Mixture of repro and natural heads used.

06.01.2022 Red stag finished off. Nice colors in the cape this one.

06.01.2022 Gemsbok finished up.

03.01.2022 Horse of a red stag finished up. Altered form in size and position. Almost finished with last seasons work......

03.01.2022 Rusa stag. I didn't have one of my own for display so I bought a cape and a pair of casties a while ago and finally got round to mounting him up. Mounted him with his chin up as i used to see them in Albion park.

03.01.2022 Springbok finished up.

03.01.2022 Caribou with detachable antlers. Started with a straight form and altered to a left turn and able to clear the wall, just. One of my favorite animal to work on at this point. Beautiful animals.

01.01.2022 Big dog fox coming along nicely. Fully altered a form in size and pose to make a wall mount as the client requested. Might alter the tail a bit before he dries. Love working on foxes
