21.01.2022 ...We already know a lot about how and where working memory is represented in the brain. Our philosophical concepts of what consciousness actually is are much more informed by empirical work than they were even a few decades ago. Whether we can ever close the gap between subjective experiences and neurophysiological processes that produce them is still a matter of dispute.

19.01.2022 At #aagala we offer #neuroptimal neurofeedback to help your be the best it can be. We can come to you, or you can come to us. We see #NDIS clients, students, neurodiverse clients, #neuropathicpain & insomnia sufferers, elite athletes, stressed out animals eg. horses & dogs & so many others, because everybody needs #neuroptimal. Our brains really can change - #neuroplasticity is real. Brain training is becoming increasingly feasible using a technique called neurofeedback,... which allows individuals to change the way their brains function by responding to personalized feedback about how their own brains work naturally. This is one approach being used to treat those struggling with neurological or psychiatric disorders, such as children diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), who have difficulty focusing their attention. We now know that a focused brain acts differently than an unfocused brain. #biohacking #biohacker http://sitn.hms.harvard.edu//brain-training-future-psychia

18.01.2022 Four pigs - Hamlet, Omelette, Ebony and Ivory - were trained to use an arcade-style joystick to steer an on-screen cursor into walls. Researchers said the fact that the pigs understood the connection between the stick and the game "is no small feat". And the pigs even continued playing when the food reward dispenser broke - apparently for the social contact.... #humane #animals #animalability See more

15.01.2022 The journal, Frontiers in Veterinary Science looks at a study on 2 specific pheromones products designed to calm the interactions between your cat and dog in the household... The truth about Cats & dogs may be in the pheromones! The study results showed that both products usedFeliway Friends, which emits pheromones that are calming for cats, and Adaptil, which does the same for dogsboth had a positive impact on the interactions between cats and dogs living in the same ...home. 15.01.2022 Firearms and Explosives Detection Dog PD Pezz has died after he became unwell with an unforeseen illness. During his career, PD Pezz and his handler, Senior Constable Jess Dwyer worked together to complete searches for dignitaries visiting Queensland, locate firearms during search warrants and perform duties during the 2014 G20 and the Commonwealth Games in 2018. PD Pezz’s life was action-packed; he flew in the rescue helicopter, rode in the QPS dingy and travelled all across... Queensland just to name a few highlights. Police said in a statement today "PD Pezz will always be remembered as a vibrant and energetic boy who loved to work and was loved dearly by his handler and her family. "He left an impression wherever he went, with people commenting even at 10-years-old that he had the energy and charisma of a puppy."
12.01.2022 An 2015 study published in the journal 'Animal Cognition' shows that contagious yawning occurs between budgerigars (Melopsittacus undulatus), like many mammalian species.... Scientists have yet to figure out what the purpose behind yawning is, but they do know that it’s contagious. They think that seeing someone else yawn causes the brain to feel some primal form of empathy, perhaps making the bystander yawn, too. Scientists who conducted this study suggest that since the bud...gies were housed in the same room together, they might have some degree of social familiaritymaking them more likely to yawn more. "We propose that Budgerigars represent a good model for exploring primitive forms of empathic processing," they write in the study. They also say that since there's an association between contagious yawning and empathy, there should be additional research on the behavior in other social vertebrates. This study is the first published example of contagious yawning in non-mammals. Similar results have been seen in humans, domesticated dogs, chimps, as well as some lab rats.... http://www.bbc.com//20150529-contagious-yawning-in-budgies

02.01.2022 "So when you say environment, or preservation of environment, it is related with many things. Ultimately the decision must come from the human heart, isn't that right? 01.01.2022 Psychoactive Drugs Explained. Psychoactive drugs affect the brain by either increasing or decreasing postsynaptic transmission Stimulant drugs mimic the stimulation provided by the sympathetic nervous system... Psychoactive drugs affect the brain and personality by either increasing or decreasing postsynaptic transmissions Drugs that increase neurotransmission levels are called stimulants and increase psychomotor arousal and alertness Drugs that decrease neurotransmission levels are called depressants and slow down brain activities and relax muscles Stimulant drugs mimic the stimulation provided by the sympathetic nervous system (i.e. 'fight or flight’ responses) Examples of stimulants include caffeine, cocaine, amphetamines, ecstasy (MDMA) and nicotine Depressants reduce stimulation of the central nervous system and may induce sleep (sedatives) Examples of sedatives include benzodiazepines, barbiturates, alcohol and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC = cannabis)
