24.01.2022 Massage is a fantastic healing tool for your dog. As a certified Canine Massage Therapist I know the ins and outs of the canine body and can work on many conditions to help relieve pain and increase mobility and much more for your dogs. But you can also help your dog between treatments with some of the gentle techniques outlined below... just remember, work gently and if your unsure what to do next, ask a professional.

20.01.2022 I often recommend cavalettis as a beginners working up to advanced rehabilitation exercise. This is by far the best video Ive ever seen to explain the ins and outs and help you to understand and trouble shoot this conditioning and rehab exercise

17.01.2022 I rarely share my own dogs here, but this is Falcor, my Sheltie posing with Santa at the vet before his titre test on Monday. Instead of a yearly vaccination, my dogs have a blood test (titre test) to check their their levels of immunity to parvo, distemper and hepatitis. Vaccinations are 100% necessary, however many have the ability to last far longer than a year. I keep my dogs safe (and safe to others) without overdoing things by following a strict procedure of titre tes...ts after initial vaccination and an appropriate worming protocol for living in a heart worm prevalent region. Keeping dogs safe while reducing chemical load does require your vet, planning and knowledge, Im happy to help guide you on your way.

12.01.2022 DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE WHO JUMPS AN OVERWEIGHT DOG? Perhaps they dont know the damage theyre doing to their dog? When we know better, we do better...well, Id ...like to think we do... When we jump an overweight dog we do a few things: Place extra pressure on joints, especially when landing. Increase the risk of injury especially ACL injuries. Put the dog in a level of discomfort and pain, whether the handler sees it or not. Lead to earlier breakdown of the dogs skeletal structure. Lead to early arthritis. Decrease the dogs lifespan In saying this, an underweight dog is not good either, some people confuse lean or working weight with underweight, I have seen many an underweight and emaciated working dog. Some people believe the lighter they are the faster they will go, but the reality of the situation is, that food powers muscles, the right food will give you the edge and lack of food will mean your dog will have less energy. Share this post if you know with someone who has an overweight or underweight dog.

12.01.2022 This is absolutely true!!

11.01.2022 Hmmm... ok then

09.01.2022 I love treating puppies Today I went to assess and treat a 10 week old bull terrier x pup. Her owners had noticed a bit of a funny gait in her hind end and after her vet check, booked her in. Its great to see owners being so proactive! Pup had a treatment to loosen her tight back muscles, assessment of all joints and a nail trim... she passed out like a dream patient half way through. We had a chat about appropriate puppy play, exercise and diet. This lucky pup has foun...d an awesome family to grow up with! Its never too young to start age appropriate treatment, handling and conditioning

08.01.2022 Its National Dog Day! Hopefully everyone is doing something fun with your pack

04.01.2022 Dogs nails can cause an incredible number of structural and postural changes, not to mention pain in your dogs if left too long. I quite often ask owners to trim their dogs nails... here are some great resources to help you. I understand how scary it can be, but with patience, practice, small cuts and always reading the nail, you can help your best mates be much more comfortable. ... If you need help, please ask me to book you a little extra time at your next appointment and we can work through it!

03.01.2022 Remember to keep your pets cool and safe from the heat predicted for the next few days. A dish of water outside in the shade could be a life saver for birds and wildlife also. Have a great weekend!

02.01.2022 Oh so important every day, but a special reminder on RU Ok Day. Dont forget to check in with your loved ones... especially the strong ones

02.01.2022 A great example of why its important for young growing dog to have appropriate exercise activities and duration, especially as their growth plates mature. Maintaining a healthy weight with good nutrition also plays a big role in allowing their joints to form well.

01.01.2022 How are your pooches staying cool in this heat? Mine are chilling in the A/C and enjoying these frozen rehydrating treats! They will also have a modified exercise schedule until it cools off a little including swimming and conditioning exercises inside. Frozen treat ingredients:... beef mince beef liver treat coconut water coconut yogurt mixed berries All frozen in silicon molds. Easy as. You can be creative with ingredients- share your recipes below

01.01.2022 A good post about the dangers of flood waters for pets. Please also remember your monthly heartworm and all worming treatments- there will be an influx of mosquitoes spreading heartworm shortly. Not to mention what might come through the very wet ground!
