22.01.2022 Did somebody say I get a treat if I sit????? Bear was referred to us by @greencrossvets in Joondalup for refractory pseudomonas otitis externa. Bear under went CT scan to rule out middle ear involvement and then proceeded with a lengthy videotoendoscopy ear flush to remove biofilm, old medication and debris. Last week we had Bear in for a cytology check and we can report he is responding very well to his current treatment plan! 21.01.2022 Lovely Lilu came in for her initial Derm consultation today to investigate her hay fever like symptoms. We will be seeing her back in a few weeks, once she is off all medications to perform an Intradermal Test. This test will narrow down exactly what Lilu is allergic to so we can then start her on immunotherapy to help relieve her allergies!

20.01.2022 Max is a bossy (at home) Min Pin that started his desensitization injections almost a year ago. Dr Nellie remembers allergy testing him at our south west satellite clinic. He is doing very well with his immunotherapy injections at a reduced dose as Max had an adverse reaction (facial swelling) at the full dose during his rush immunotherapy. His owner is thrilled with his progress and he is no longer sensitive with his ears when touched. He also does not require regular anti itch treatments, just his ASIT injections! 19.01.2022 Sasha presented as an initial consult at Animalius. She saw Dr Nellie for hair loss and inflamed skin, particularly on her paws. The lesions did not respond to Cytopoint, antibiotics or prednisolone. This prompted Dr Nellie to investigate further and found these little friends on a hair pluck sample from the interdigital area. 15.01.2022 Hello Miss Hettie!! Hettie presented to ADC-Perth after being referred by @roleystonevet for relapsing otitis externa,pruritus affected dorsal trunk/lumbar region and relapse in bacterial infection. During Hetties initial consultation with Dr Hilary a bacterial swab was taken to ensure Hettie was not harboring a MRSP (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus pseudintermedius) infection due failed resolution of bacterial infections. The culture results returned a negative to MRSP and a suitable antibiotic course was selected. We are currently mid way through an elimation diet of @prime100petfood crocodile and tapioca. 15.01.2022 Roxy is 14 years young! Shes a reminder for us vets that food allergy can occur in older dogs too. We first met Roxy in November 2019 for pedal pruritis (itchy paws). She was living with an E-collar on 24/7 and had no hair on her paws and legs. Roxy had a history of gastrointestinal disease and anal sacculitis. Dr Nellie recommended a novel protein food trial and Cytopoint injections. She responded immediately and was able to live E-collar free! 12.01.2022 Beautiful Loki presented to Animal Dermatology Clinic- Perth at The Animal Hospital at Murdoch University today; he has an immune mediated disease called Systemic Lupus Erythematosus which is a rare problem associated with skin and oral cavity lesions as well as a severe polyarthritis. Dr Mandy has his disease in remission using a novel drug combination which is proving to be very successful in making him happy and healthy. His progress will be monitored by regular testing of all his blood parameters and ensuring his arthritis is completely in remission with regular joint fluid analysis. This dog is a perfect example of the outcomes that can be achieved when the facility has specialists working together from every discipline. Thank you University team.

Dr Hilary recommended we perform an otoendoscopy to investigate After flushing the debris, we spotted a grass seed dangerously close to the ear drum!! This was removed using camera guided forceps (and a very steady hand).
