25.01.2022 Considering importing to Australia? Each country has a classification by the Department of Agriculture in Australia. Most countries fall under group 2 or 3 and are considered ‘approved', others are listed as 'non-approved’ and have additional requirements for the importer. Here is our simplified guide for what to expect when importing from a non-approved country.

16.01.2022 Dog owners in Australia: be aware of a small outbreak of disease in Australia called canine ehrlichiosis (or E. canis). Initial reports have stated a small number of dogs have currently tested positive for E. canis in Australia. Dogs become infected when bitten by an infected brown dog tick. Ehrlichiosis, the disease caused by the bacteria, can be fatal if not treated quickly and properly. ... It is recommend to protect dogs against the disease by maintaining a tick prevention and control program, avoid entering tick-infested areas (such as the bush) and regularly inspect for ticks. How it arrived in Australia is under investigation, however all dogs imported must test negative to E. canis prior to departure. As always, if your pet is unwell or you are unsure, seek veterinary advice. Read more at https://www.outbreak.gov.au/current-resp/ehrlichiosis-dogs

10.01.2022 Great news for those importing from Estonia. As of 1 March 2021, Dept of Agriculture in Australia has re-classified Estonia as a group 3 country (previously non-approved).

09.01.2022 Great news for cat and dog owners having difficulty securing a direct flight to Melbourne. Under limited circumstances and subject to eligibility these pets may now be transhipped via Sydney to the Post-Entry Quarantine Facility in Melbourne. This is a temporary arrangement between the Department of Agriculture and Qantas airlines, and is available when there is no other option but for them to fly directly to Melbourne. Contact us today via PM or email [email protected] for further information.

04.01.2022 Due to current operational demands the quarantine facility is close to capacity with only a limited number of places available for dogs and cats over the coming months. If you are wanting to import your pet to Australia it's best to start the process early to ensure your pet does not get caught up in any unnecessary delays.
