23.01.2022 Every night across NSW kangaroos are being shot, maimed, and terrorised by the commercial kangaroo industry. This profit driven industry allows joeys to be bludgeoned to death, decapitated or left to die a slow agonising death, without their mothers to protect and care for them. The Industry perpetuates the myth that kangaroos are killed 'humanely' and their flesh is fresh and healthy. Nothing could be further from the truth. The infographic below depicts the truth. Take action and help end this cruel industry https://nsw.animaljusticeparty.org/cam/kangaroo-protection/

Which amazing woman's life saving work for animals are you celebrating today? Let us know in the comments below

21.01.2022 In less than 2 weeks Campbelltown City Council, NSW will be voting to ban fur sales on council land Will you support the motion and help them become part of the global movement against the fur industry? SIGN HERE: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/campbelltown-fur-ban Over 100 million animals suffer and die each year as victims of the fur trade. They are killed by anal electrocution, gassing, breaking their necks or skilling them alive - all inhumane and often ineffecti...ve methods designed to avoid damage to their fur. Five NSW Councils have already moved to ban fur in their area - will you help Campbelltown Council be the 6th? Sign HERE: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/campbelltown-fur-ban

20.01.2022 BREAKING Mark Pearson MP is calling for a police investigation into Wally's Piggery after raising new animal cruelty concerns in NSW Parliament. Read more HERE: https://www.smh.com.au//political-stink-over-suffering-cat Mark said in the House: This time he is recorded in a cattle feedlot with dead and dying animals. We see severe respiratory illness, untreated wounds, blindness and painful de-horning. We see a cripple cow with a stumped foot, in pain and having great dif...ficulty walking. Thank-you Mark for raising these serious concerns in Parliament and we look forward to seeing the outcome of a police investigation.

20.01.2022 Our oceans are choking on plastic: 165 million tonnes of plastic to be exact. And while most of us are making an effort to avoid single use plastics, what we really need is to stop these plastics being made in the first place. We need new laws that make sure no more plastics end up in our oceans and our marine animals are protected. It's time to address the plastic crisis.... Stay tuned as our MPs take on plastics in Parliament shortly. #saynotosingleuseplastic

20.01.2022 Imprisoned between cold metal bars in a space so small that she cannot turn around - this is the life faced by thousands of mother pigs held in farrowing crates in NSW. Yet this horrific cruelty is condoned by the Department of Primary Industries - the same department that is expected to protect animals. Do you think this is wrong? So do we. Sign our petition calling for an Independent Office of Animal Protection here: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/IOAP... Farrowing crates are so cruel they have been banned in the UK for over 20 years, but here in NSW these tiny prisons are still commonplace. They don’t have to be. With an Independent Office of Animal Protection, animal policies, procedures, standards and guidelines would all be developed independently of the interests of the agricultural lobby, and all animals would be afforded the protection they deserve. The NSW Government will be making their decision on an Independent Office early next month. Sign the petition now and call on Premier Gladys Berejiklian to give animals the protection they deserve today: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/IOAP

19.01.2022 Cruelty is rife within the horse racing industry, with horses being whipped, tongue-tied and sent to knackeries. As Emma said: If humans and animals are going to continue to survive the present climate crisis, big investment in these kinds of clean solutions is critical. NSW is now on track to become a global leader in renewables, benefitting animals, the environment and our communities alike. ... Thank-you to all who voted in favour of this bill (despite the 249 One Nation amendments!) #nswpol #cleanenergy

17.01.2022 THOUSANDS of racing greyhounds are disappearing each year. Many of these dogs are believed to have been killed. Why? Because right now a greyhound can be retired from racing, and without anyone knowing euthanised the very next day. Help protect these dogs. Sign the petition here: https://actionnetwork.org/petitio/protect-greyhounds-in-nsw... The scale of this issue is frightening. It is estimated that in the last year 2,300 greyhounds have have gone ‘missing’. That’s why Young Animal Justice Party is taking action against this cruelty by calling on the NSW government to ensure ALL greyhounds are tracked on a public register from birth to death. Will you join them? Sign the petition HERE: https://actionnetwork.org/petitio/protect-greyhounds-in-nsw

16.01.2022 We are SO CLOSE to stopping the NSW Government's "koala killer" bill Will you help give it that final push? Email Upper House MP's here: https://animal-justice-party.good.do/savekoalas/action/ After being delayed last week, the Local Land Services Amendment (Miscellaneous) Bill 2020 is expected to be debated in the NSW Upper House over the next few days.... This bill will be devastating for koalas in NSW. It will: - Water down the definition of "core koala habitat" - Remove koala core habitat maps from Government websites - Enable land clearing for the majority of agribusiness - without any provisions or restrictions - Remove local councils' powers over approvals for logging of koala habitat on private land With 67% of koalas in NSW living on private property, we CANNOT let this bill become law. Take action today by emailing NSW Upper House MP's, calling on them to vote against this horrific bill (it might be our last chance!): https://animal-justice-party.good.do/savekoalas/action/

12.01.2022 Is it your time to represent animals in Federal Parliament? Come along to our National Candidate Information Session this Saturday at 3.30pm. Register for the online event here: https://animaljusticeparty.org//2021-federal-election-can/ Joined by our MPs Emma Hurst and Andy Meddick MP we’ll be discussing:... - What it takes to be a candidate - How to prepare for the election - Life as an AJP MP - And more! We can’t wait to see you there!

12.01.2022 The NSW Government has sold out koalas. AGAIN. Deputy Premier John Barilaro has just announced the new Koala SEPP 2021 that will exclude land zoned for agribusiness and forestry, allowing a massive amount of logging of remaining koala habitat. This will be CATASTROPHIC for the 67% of koalas currently living on private land. The biggest threat to koalas is habitat loss, and this move will push koalas even closer toward extinction.... We can’t let them get away with this. Stay tuned and we’ll have more on how you can take action soon.

10.01.2022 NSW GOVERNMENT EXPOSED The NSW Government allowed the slaughter of almost half the surviving wallaroos in the Upper Hunter region. In 2019 there were only an estimated 24,000 wallaroos left in the Upper Hunter - a 67% decrease from 2018. Yet according to the 2020 Quota Report, still another 11,010 wallaroos were set to be slaughtered that very same year.... Our MP Emma Hurst is calling on the NSW Government to explain why such excessive slaughter was approved. We’ll be awaiting the Government response. Watch this space. PS. This year there as been NO estimate provided for the Upper Hunter wallaroo population. Yet still another 3,600 wallaroos have been condemned to death despite the summer bushfires.

09.01.2022 A dolphin born in captivity can live his entire life being forced to perform in a space not much bigger than a backyard swimming pool. That’s up to 50 years being forced to do demeaning and inane tricks for human ‘entertainment’. Up to 50 years being exploited for photo opportunities and so called ‘meet and greets’. Up to 50 years being denied the ability to swim free in the open ocean. Breeding these sentient, intelligent animals in captivity and subjecting them to a life of... imprisonment is undeniably animal cruelty. Emma Hurst - Animal Justice Party MP’s inquiry into the use of animals for ‘entertainment’ is still underway, and we will continue to be a voice for all dolphins who remain in captivity here in NSW. Animals are here with us, not for us, and it’s time to end the breeding of dolphins in captivity once and for all.

04.01.2022 BREAKING: Koalas in NSW are safe from the Government's appalling koala killer bill - for now. Tonight Emma Hurst - Animal Justice Party MP and Mark Pearson MP successfully voted to refer this bill to a parliamentary committee, giving us the chance to fully expose just how dangerous this legislation really is for koalas across NSW. As Emma said in the House: "This bill is a disgrace. The government is using koalas as a political punching bag." We couldn't agree more.... But this isn’t over, and we can’t stop fighting to protect koalas. While the coalition remains in government, no animal is safe. Watch this space. #saveourkoalas

01.01.2022 This is Sara. She was a victim of puppy farming in NSW. Sara was imprisoned in a barren concrete pen. She had no toys, no bed, no blankets, and no companions - just a single water bowl. She died like she had lived, alone and heavily pregnant. Her puppies did not survive. Sara’s story is not unique. This is the reality of puppy farming in NSW. And together we can end it. ... Stand up for dogs like Sara still suffering in puppy farms across NSW. Join the protest here: https://www.facebook.com/events/133219144907688/
