02.01.2022 Help shape a new animal welfare Act for Victoria. The Victorian Government is seeking feedback on proposals for a new animal welfare Act. The new Act would replace the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986. ... The proposals include ways to recognise animal sentience as how to set minimum standards of care for animals for the first time in Victoria’s animal welfare legislation. Other proposals would help cut red tape for our animal-based industries.
