08.01.2022 Who let the dogs out? You can - at our brand new off leash dog park in Kilmore! Your furry friends can run free in the fully fenced doggy play space from 10am to 8pm each day, except race days. The park is located on the corner of East Road and Kilmore East Road and officially opened on Friday. It features a fenced area, a drinking fountain and some shaded bench seating. Please follow the rules at the gate and enjoy this fantastic new facility, the first Council-run dog par...k in Mitchell Shire. The dog park was funded thanks to a $30,000 grant from the Victorian Government’s Building Works package. The program is providing $2.7 billion towards shovel-ready projects to get thousands of people back to work. It includes $2.5 million for 17 new dog parks across Victoria. We would also like to extend our thanks to Department of Environment Land Water and Planning, Kilmore Racing Club Inc and Kilmore Racecourse Trust for their support to make the project possible.

01.01.2022 Help shape a new animal welfare Act for Victoria. The Victorian Government is seeking feedback on proposals for a new animal welfare Act. The new Act would replace the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1986. ... The proposals include ways to recognise animal sentience as how to set minimum standards of care for animals for the first time in Victoria’s animal welfare legislation. Other proposals would help cut red tape for our animal-based industries. Read the proposals for the new Act, complete the survey or make a submission by 14 December 2020. https://engage.vic.gov.au/new-animal-welfare-act-victoria
