22.01.2022 This month's Pet of the Month is the noble Rhodesian Ridgeback. These beautiful, regal looking animals have a long history as an African hunting dog. Initially bred to help hunt lions, they would be released in packs to worry and corner a lion before a hunter would come in and make the kill. With incredible skills of endurance they were able to run for miles in blistering heat to catch their quarry. When deciding to buy a Ridgeback puppy for the first time it is important to ...remember that they can be strong willed and independent, and an equally strong, experienced owner is generally recommended. Fiercely loyal to their 'pack' they can make an excellent family pet, though regular daily exercise is essential. Sometimes aloof with other people outside the family and sometimes incompatible with other dogs, early training and socialistion is very important. Given these attributes, the Rhodesian Ridgeback can become a loyal and hugely rewarding member of your family. See more

19.01.2022 Exercise is an extremely important part of daily life for a cat or dog. For an easy, fun way to entice your cat to hunt and chase, try sitting on your couch and using a laser light. Cats love them!

15.01.2022 When your vet puts an Elizabethan collar on your pet, it is usually for a very good reason. Although it might look uncomfortable it will stop your little friend from licking, biting and possibly infecting a wound. So make sure you keep the collar on for the recommended amount of time.

10.01.2022 Have you got a hot dog? It's been a very hot summer and it's important to remember how your puppy, kitten or even guinea pig might be feeling. Keep them cool by freezing ice blocks for them to lay against or lick, keep a fan running or wet them down with the hose (if they'll let you) Do you have any tips for keeping your animals cool this summer.

08.01.2022 This week we welcomed 6 baby bearded dragons into the world at our #RSPCAWildlifeHospital! It's a bittersweet story for our team. Sadly last November their mum ...came into our care after being attacked by a dog. Due to the severity of her injuries we unfortunately had to ease her suffering and put her to sleep. She was gravid at the time and carrying 8 eggs. Our wildlife vets removed her eggs and started the incubation process. We are still monitoring two of her eggs in the hope they hatch soon! These 6 babies are happy and healthy and after a vet check were able to be released back into the wild to continue their mum's legacy. Good luck little ones! If you see sick or injured animals please call our Animal Emergency Hotline 1300 ANIMAL (1300 264 625). http://www.rspcaqld.org.au//care-for-ani/wildlife-hospital

04.01.2022 Imagine a colour you can't even imagine. Now do that 9 more times. Now you know how it feels to be a mantis shrimp!

04.01.2022 Hilarious! I loved the ping pong dog. Has your pet ever done anything super funny? Tell us about it.

02.01.2022 #Maryborough firies were called this afternoon to assist RSPCA Queensland rescue a kitten stuck in an industrial bin drain. With firefighters inside and outside the bin, they used a soapy lubricant to free the kitten, which was transported to a nearby vet for observation.
