24.01.2022 This weekend temperatures are set to reach over 40 degrees in some parts of Sydney If your pet is displaying any signs of heat stress (lethargy, vomiting, diarrhoea, excessive panting, difficulty breathing, unsteady on their legs, collapse) bring them in to us immediately or if we are closed go to the Animal Referral Hospital in Homebush which is open 24/7. Remember - heat stress can be deadly....the sooner treatment is started the better the chance of survival!... Here’s a reminder of some hot weather do’s and don’ts: DO: wherever possible, leave your pets inside in air conditioning on very hot days make sure there is an unlimited supply of cold, fresh water provide shade if pets must be outside for some of the day have a fire plan in place that includes your pets provide frozen treats consider buying a cooling mat consider providing a splash pool for your dog or letting your dog swim in the pool. Swimming should ALWAYS be supervised. skip the daily walk/play in the park on very hot days or only do so very early in the morning or later at night once it has cooled down seek immediate veterinary attention if you suspect your pet has heatstroke DON’T: leave pets without water or shelter, even for short periods of time leave pets in cars, even for a short period of time leave rabbit/guinea pig hutches in the sun exercise your pet in the middle of the day let them walk on pavement or road that is too hot as it may burn their sensitive paw pads

13.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE - PLEASE READ In response to the government’s latest easing in restrictions we have made a slight change to our conditions of entry in relation to mask wearing in the clinic. We no longer require you to wear a mask in the waiting room. This means if you are only in to purchase a product or are dropping off/picking up your pet you can choose not to wear a mask. ... However, if you will be entering a consult room with a vet or nurse, you MUST still wear a mask. This is required because it is difficult to maintain appropriate social distancing in these small rooms. If you are going into a consult room and have forgotten your mask you will be required to purchase one from us for $3. Please make sure you are wearing your mask correctly at all times, as shown in the below image. If the mask is worn below your nose it does not provide adequate protection. All our other COVID-19 protocols remain unchanged. We thank you for your continued cooperation to help keep us all safe

11.01.2022 Sweet little Cookie, the 10 year old Chihuahua cross, came in to see us recently for a dental procedure. She was a very good girl and now has beautiful clean teeth and fresh breath Dental care is important for all cats and dogs, however, toy breed dogs like Cookie are particularly susceptible to dental disease. That’s why it’s really important that we check their teeth every 6 months so we can catch any problems early before the damage becomes irreversible. Call us on 9764... 6066 to book in your FREE nurse dental check #chihuahuax #dogdental

02.01.2022 Hello lovely clients We would like to tell you a little bit about what goes on behind the scenes at Animal Tracks. Our nursing and reception staff are often taking care of animals that the public don’t know about. For example, although we are currently only advertising one kitten for adoption (Cheddar), we are actually caring for ten. Yes, TEN! ... A box full of 8 kittens was recently dumped at our doorstep overnight while we were closed. These kittens were only about 2 weeks old at the time. This put our staff members in an unfair position - we would either need to humanely euthanise the kittens or commit to around the clock care that we weren’t consulted about. As we are all avid animal lovers, we chose the latter. Our amazing staff have been bottle feeding and caring for the kittens around the clock which includes nights and weekends. Sadly one of the kittens has already passed away despite our best efforts. We usually don’t notify the public that we have kittens until they are ready to be adopted because sometimes the kittens don’t make it and we don’t want people to be upset. When they are separated from their mother at such a young age the chances of survival are low. Then there is Cheddar and his sister Brie. Brie hasn’t been advertised for adoption as yet because she has had several health issues. We’re currently treating her for a chronic ear infection. Our tenth kitten has been nicknamed Pebbles. She is currently about 8 weeks old. She was brought in to us a few weeks ago by a member of the public who had witnessed her being thrown out of a car window. Thankfully she didn’t have any injuries, however, she is completely covered with ringworm (a fungal infection of the skin). This means she needs to be separated from all other animals as it is contagious and also requires medicine and medicated baths. We often receive phone calls from people asking us if they can bring strays in for us to look after. For the foreseeable future the answer unfortunately will be no. People are sometimes unhappy with this answer. When we say no please understand that it is because we are completely at capacity. We will always help whenever we can but our staff can only be stretched so far as fostering young animals does take an emotional and physical toll.

02.01.2022 Remembering all the men, women and animals who have served. We thank you. Lest we forget.
