22.01.2022 Hi Everyone it will come as no surprise that we here at MIAF are looking closely at the viability of our July dates. As you can probably imagine there are a LOT of moving parts to the decision that we are facing. We are working through the issues as quickly as we can and will keep you up to date via the website and our Facebook and Twitter pages. FILMMAKERS If you have entered your film in MIAF 2020 we will be notifying you all about the outcome of our selection process ...as soon as we have clarity on what MIAF 2020 will ultimately look like. Thanks everybody for your patience. Stay safe. Keep apart but hang tight. This too will pass!

20.01.2022 The Australian Cartoon Museum houses an astonishing collection of Aus cartoons. But they also have a brilliant "Toon Talk" show on You Tube. Exhibit A.......check out Episode 27 (27!!! howzat!) "The Art Of Open Season" "The Art of Open Season gives you an inside look at an explosion of color and talent, documenting every aspect of creating a CG animated film, from scripting and storyboarding to layout, animation, color, lighting, and visual effects with sensational full-color images throughout." 19.01.2022 "Online streaming performances and digital exhibition spaces may not be an immediate salve to the impulse to stockpile food. But they are a reminder that if, satisfying our physical needs comes first in Maslow’s hierarchy of needs, the real question is what are we satisfying them for?" Insightful, kinda hopeful (depending where you optimism needle is sitting right now) article on the VALUE of creativity and the creative industries. Julian Meyrick nails it yet again in The Conversation. https://tinyurl.com/vrwg5fw

18.01.2022 Shaping up as a busy closing day - KIDS session gets underway at 1:00pm and it's a cracker!! The "Character Animation For VFX Films" presented by world leading Method Studio rolls out at 3:00 and our special focus on Australian Master animator Paul Fletcher (along with a comprehensive commentary and Q&A) hits the screen at 5:00pm. THENNNN its Best of The Fest.... really glad we scheduled two screenings coz the 7:00pm is Sold Out - we've held back as many seats as possible for Pass Holders and we'll run a door list for unclaimed seats BUT nabbing a seat for the repeat screening at 9:00pm looks like the best bet www.miaf.net #miaf19
18.01.2022 Thanks to all the presenters who made "Learning To Earning" a super fascinating session. The foyer going quiet now as everybody heads in to see the James Cunningham Retrospective. Then we hit the LAST International Competition program at 6:30pm - a truly eclectic pick'n'mix of a program with a BIG BIG finish https://miaf.net/events/international-program-7/ #miaf19

16.01.2022 Tonight's screening of the "Rosto Tetralogy" is one of the most special programs MIAF has screened. Many MIAF alumni still recall Rosto's guest appearance here in 2006 and the unique creative energy that flowed from him. His passing earlier this year not long after completing the last film of this 'tetralogy' robbed animation of one of its most distinctive voices and most creative and generous souls. The brief doco that opens the program introduces us to his approach to his art and life, capturing him at the peak of his powers. If you see only one thing at MIAF 19, this is the one https://miaf.net/events/the-rosto-tetralogy #miaf19

05.01.2022 Rosto AD was a great friend of MIAF's and one of the most unflinching artists we've ever encountered. His "Tetraology" at MIAF this year was one intense glimpse of what he was capable of. His producers have been able to publish an astonishing 210 page version of his graphic novel MIND MY GAP and this is the best chance to score a copy directly from their crowdfunding campaign. TOO GOOD!!! Do it now https://www.kisskissbankbank.com//projec/rosto-mind-my-gap

01.01.2022 A warm and well written tribute from Disney about the legendary voice actor Russi Taylor who for decades was the voice of Minnie Mouse. If that's not career enough, she also voiced a bunch of Simpsons characters .... the German kid Uter, the two weird twins Sherri and Terri and, best of all, Martin the nerd. Taylor passed away last Friday bit.ly/2YphQi9
