24.01.2022 Thank you for the information on the setup of this Gliga 1 violin. It's good to have a chance to tell you how very satisfying the sound of this instrument is! And the bow as well. Your setup had much to do with it, I'm very sure. The shipping was superb, all arrived in good shape and the instrument has continued to unfold its very sweet and balanced sound. This bow has been very enjoyable and stable with a good weight. I'm not an advanced player but the return to the ...ear is so much improved from my $2100 Chinese Guarneri copy. Thank you SO very much. Your demo online was most helpful in the decision. And thank you for all the post-purchase information. Best wishes always.. 22.01.2022 Angelina Kim, winner of the 2020 St Peter's Lutheran College Concerto Competition visited Animato Strings today with her prize. She performed the Bartok viola concerto 2nd and 3rd movements with the St Peter's Orchestra last Saturday, winning the competition.

17.01.2022 My daughter was very nervous about playing her violin and choosing a new bow in front of other musicians. Dietrich took the time to sit with her and make her feel comfortable so she wasn't nervous anymore. She came out with a beautiful new bow and shoulder rest. We have been several times and are always very happy with their friendly customer service. erint914 https://www.wordofmouth.com.au/reviews/animato-strings

14.01.2022 Today, the Alex (cello) plays on a Sandner cello (full size this time!), made in Germany in 1984. It is for sale. Alex McPherson is accompanied by Julian Wade. They play an excerpt of Breval's Concertino No 1.

12.01.2022 This violin must have been used a lot. It would be available as a display item for $220 (We would string it up with s/h bridge etc).

12.01.2022 Animato is without a doubt the best stringed instrument specialty store in Brisbane. They have the biggest range of new and secondhand instruments, sheet music, and accessories that you could possibly need. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful, and you are warmly welcomed by Dietrich and the family when you entire the store (it looks amazing inside by the way). There's a reason why I've been coming here for 22 years since I began learning violin and why I now recommend Animato to all of my students! brannonc https://www.wordofmouth.com.au/reviews/animato-strings

11.01.2022 The vioilin came back to us after 18 years.

11.01.2022 Ave Maria on a 1/2 size French cello, made around 1890. With Alex McPherson and Julian Wade, recorded yesterday in our studio. The cello arrived at Animato in a very poor condition. David from our workshop took it apart and put it back together. It was worth the effort.

08.01.2022 Thank you, Dietrich and team, for your generous help when upgrading our violin for our daughter this week. The violin sounds beautiful and we also value that Dietrich has been able to tell us about the history of this violin. I hope to see you all again when the time comes for our younger children to get an instrument of their own. andrewb345 https://www.wordofmouth.com.au/reviews/animato-strings

07.01.2022 'Is this violin good enough for my daughter?' In the end, a 1/8 old French violin outperformed the rest. I forgot what Michael Patterson played while I caught h...im on camera. It could have been the first few bars of the Bruch violin concerto since it covers a lot of ground or perhaps he played twinkle, twinkle - one or the other. (Or maybe not.) See more

07.01.2022 I’ve been coming to Animato for the past 20 years - as a young student, then tertiary student, professional musician and teacher. Dietrich and Jae don’t just run a string shop, they’ve helped nurture and develop the string community in Queensland and nationally by putting people first. I appreciate their authenticity and would happily recommend Animato to anyone looking for instruments or accessories. daniell331 https://www.wordofmouth.com.au/reviews/animato-strings

05.01.2022 Chloe (10) played a beautifully sad melody (AMEB grade 7) today on her favourite old European violin. Today was the first time she played on full-size violins. Lo and behold - every note was in tune.

05.01.2022 John Willison (83) visited Animato a few days ago and stumbled upon this Lillo Salerno violin for his grandchild. Here is a short bio of John: Born in England ...in 1937. He was the youngest winner of an Associated Board of Royal School of Music Scholarship in 1952 at the age of fifteen years. He studied at the Royal Academy of Music. A member of the English Chamber Orchestra from 1960 until 1968, he was then invited to be Principal Second Violin in the London Philharmonic Orchestra, a position he held for five years. During that time he also served as a Director of the Orchestra. John was the leader of several orchestras and ensembles while living in London, notably, the New Symphony Orchestra (founded by Sir Thomas Beecham), the London Sinfonietta, the English Opera Group and was also guest leader of the English Chamber Orchestra. John taught for a while at the Royal Academy and also played for many baroque ensembles, including the Academy of Ancient Music. Since living in Australia, John has been teaching at the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University.

05.01.2022 The more important thing was that none of the strings was missing, just a few teeth. Friends Luna and Kathleen (with her new 1/4 Gliga violin) visited Animato Strings yesterday.
