22.01.2022 Here is my final job seeking tip! Job seeking tip #6 THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX! ... When your searching through the online job ads on Seek, Gumtree or Indeed for eg.. Think outside the box! Some employers are very obscure with their job ads..they aren't always the obvious job role in the headings. Broaden your search key words.. For eg If it's a Customer Service role your looking for put in Admin or Sales as they may be hidden under those key words. Another handy tip.. If there's a contact name and phone number on the ad call them to find out more about the job before you apply. If you feel it's a suitable position for you make sure you send your resume through straight after the conversation so that person remembers you. Believe me it will put you at top of the pile if they were impressed. Remember be creative and proactive to get that interview! Xx Anita PS... 10.01.2022 Job seeking tip #5 MARKET YOURSELF TO EMPLOYERS.. So we know 70% of jobs are not advertised... So apart from word of mouth and 'who you know', that means get out there and market yourself to employers.... Contact companies you are interested in working for (small to medium companies usually are more open to calls)... Ask them if there are any jobs avail with your skills set. You never know they may be looking for someone at that time! If your industry is in retail or hospitality your in luck! Approach the business direct with resume in hand asking for the Manager. Introduce yourself and tell them what experience you have and ask the question... WOULD YOU BE LOOKING TO EMPLOY ANY STAFF AT THIS TIME OR IN THE NEAR FUTURE? If your skill set suits that employer I guarantee they will take your resume and if you've sold yourself well they will contact you. If your a junior please note.. Most junior positions are not advertised. I highly recommend you walk the shops with resumes in hand, dresses smartly with a smile on your dial. REMEMBER this. A smile, neat appearance, confidence without being cocky and positive body language.. Along with a professional resume.. Is all that's needed to market yourself personally to employers. Oh and choose your targets wisely..make sure you'd like to work there as you may get success instantly with an interview time. Xx Anita

06.01.2022 Job seeking tip #4 NETWORK NETWORK..! Did you know that 70% of jobs are not advertised? That means most jobs are filled by word of mouth or people getting out there selling themselves.... Firstly... Tell everyone in your network of friends your looking for a job.. You never know they may have a connection for you! Connect with local Facebook job seeking groups. For eg.. Connecting Jobseekers Bayside is a great one! Everytime you meet new people subtly let them know you're looking for work. Firstly show a genuine interest in them...ask questions about their industry to gain insight on what they do and then naturally they will ask questions about you. Sell yourself! REMEMBER... Scary thought for some? I know right! So if your social media is a little unprofessional then please ensure STRICT PRIVACY SETTINGS are on so noone can see your posts or instagram PHOTOS.. Like from last weekend of you partying hard.. Or posts about how hungover you are. Not a good first impression. Eeeeek! Also change your profile picture to a Grated version. Something your grandmother would approve of! It's often the last thing we think of when applying for jobs and the first thing employers look at when employing people of good character!
