23.01.2022 Thank you to ' Artsy' a little snippet of the Venice Biennale, it's always a spectacular time for my favourite city so much to see all over, especially off the beaten track, best place in the world to get lost ....my love affair with Venice will never wane.

21.01.2022 http://www.anitatraynor.com/blog/ Very talented artists on the way up, watch this space .......

21.01.2022 In the thick of winter, we are all looking forward to a little inspiration and a jolly good reason to step in out of the cold. Coming up at Anita Traynor Fine Art over the next few months are solo shows by Laura Matthews (August); Belinda Wilson (Sep/Oct) and Leigha White (November). In the meantime, there's the current winter group exhibition on with a diverse range of contemporary Australian artists. So venture up the stairs, at Level 1,970 High Street, Armadale..

19.01.2022 Organic and sublimely emotive, the sculptures of Claudia Fontes, which are visceral interpretations of 'foreigners' inhabiting the daily environment that she observes on her many walks in the countryside display a quirky, yet idyllic image of everyday life where all types of people and cultures mesh together to work, live, love and play. Where are you from? She ponders, and who are you? What is your story? For, after all, we all have one. Are you feeling displaced, alienate...d and alone? Or are you relishing in your new world? Have you finally found a peaceful haven in which to rest your weary bones? Her textured, honeycombed clad bodies appear huddled together in lustful poses, and although minute in actual size, appearing no larger than the artists own hands, they speak volumes, revealing the raw human emotions that are buried beneath the porcelain moulds. An artist well worth following and observing as she emerges into the forefront of the European art scene. Claudia's work stands alone in a remarkably huge expanse of creative output, and will I'm sure, gain significant interest as time goes by. See more

14.01.2022 Jean Luc Cornec's rotary phone sheep installations are so witty, clever and yet nostalgic at the same time, harking back to a period when the rotary phone was the only phone in the house and at least you knew where to find it.....unlike today's handsets which get taken by the kids never to be seen again, only to be found many months later hiding in laundry baskets, under doonas and god knows where else. Although serious in their artful content, I can't help ponder the genius... behind Jean Luc's thinking, I mean how much do these phones really look like the sheep heads, and what clever legs they make too!! Where is the mind going when it comes up with these rather zany yet fantastic art forms that not only serve as a clever little installation but remind us of a bygone era, where computers were colossal and only one person could use the telephone at once! I myself spent many an hour in my dimly lit hallway, freezing my butt off whilst talking incessantly on the end of one of these devices, what marvelous memories of a slightly quaint yesteryear they conjure up, when life seemed so much more manageable. I love these images, they quite simply make you smile, not too complex, not trying too hard, sometimes the simple things really are the best....... See more

11.01.2022 Feeling inspired to share a bit of love, in a Haring way... homage to a truly great street artist and free thinker, Keith Haring...an all time favourite of mine.

11.01.2022 don't forget tomorrow night's opening with Ken McGregor discussing art, collecting and John Olsen.............see you there

10.01.2022 Flowers still make us feel good from Van Gogh to OKeeffe; even Koons and Murakami, throughout history flowers have been treated in so many different yet inspiring ways, an interesting article by Sarah Gottesman, Artsy, for some light Saturday avo reading time, hopefully by a warm fireplace with a hot cuppa, enjoy.

08.01.2022 Dale Frank has had an incredible career so far, this is an interesting article in Ocula which covers his latest new direction and gives a great insight into the artist's creative prowess, a good read if you get chance..

07.01.2022 Celebrating some of these wonderful ladies!!! Great indigenous artists of the Western Desert, Nyurapayia Nampitjinpa (Mrs Bennett), Ningura Napurrula, WintiyaNapaltjarri and the divine Judy Watson Napangardi. Images from the book, Artists of the Western Desert, by Ken McGregor (author) and Greg Weight (photographer) with these inspiring black and white photographs and brilliantly articulated text, this is a great book to have and to hold!!

06.01.2022 Leigha White recent work, getting exhibition ready...enquiries Anita Traynor ([email protected] or drop into new space at Level 1/970 High Street Armadale) formerly Art Establishment.

06.01.2022 NGV TRIENNIAL "Featuring the work of over 100 artists and designers from 32 countries, the NGV Triennial surveys the world of art and design, across cultures, scales, geographies and perspectives." (NGV blurb). It is well worth exploring the diverse works on display at the NGV's Triennial Exhibition. For me, Yayoi Kusama's flower Obsession completely made up of paper flowers and furniture by Ikea, which when entering the room you are given a flower to place wherever you lik...e, is the standout. The entire exhibition is both playful and interactive and engages people at all levels. Upon entering the space you are knocked out by a mind-blowingly large Buddha created by the Chinese artist Xu Zhen; The size and scale of this work and its beauty, resting in all its classical splendour, hints at what lies ahead. Sitting 18 metres long, Eternity-Buddha in Nirvana is the largest work in Xu’s Eternal series and took many months to transport from China and assemble. However, it pays a deep homage to East meets West cultures with the adornment of classical sculptures that protrude from the exterior. It is a magnificent and grand work, very Beinnalesque!! I loved it, the Mueck skull sculptures also demand a great presence on the second level. As you meander through each space you get the sense that you really are a part of an extravagant, well curated and indeed beautiful selection of International art.

04.01.2022 Michael Buxton's collection to be revealed soon in the form of a Contemporary new art gallery for Melbournian's to enjoy, how exciting. Extraordinary man giving back to the community and enriching the lives of so many, how I wish there were more multi-millionaires this philanthropic.
