16.01.2022 No More Refusals: XC Lesson with Pippa Funnell Jumping a cross-country round with a horse who has a tendency to refuse can be more than a little unnerving. Watc...h Pippa Funnell’s lesson for getting up and over every time! It’s all about confidence, explains Pippa. If you’re confident and your horse is confident, then it’ll happen. So it’s important that you don’t go any faster or jump any bigger than you want to go. If you’re not confident, it’s likely your horse won’t be either as he’ll be picking up the negative vibes from you. Pippa gets Tilly and Archie performing some easy exercises over a variety cross-country fences, to try and get the pair to loosen up, relax and get confident across country. Try the exercises for yourself and see if they work for you TIP 1: SIT TIGHT Never get in front of the movement, stresses Pippa. It’s all about being effective and in balance. TIP 2: SLOW BUT SURE Pop some small fences from a slow pace even walk. It might jump you out of the saddle, but this will help you develop a really secure position. Try not to interfere with your horse’s mouth, as he needs his head and neck to balance, advises Pippa. TIP 3: STAY IN THE TUBE Keeping your horse straight between your leg and hand ‘in the tube’ will help in tricky combination fences with lots of twists and turns. You need impulsion, but not speed, says Pippa. Keep your arm soft just as a subtle guide to keep him straight and keep him in tube with your leg. TIP 4: AVOID OVERRIDING Water complexes offer horses a prime opportunity for putting in a stop, which can cause some people to ride their horse forward a little too much. But Pippa advises: Try not to override it give your horse time to work out what to do with his feet. Speed is never the solution impulsion is! TIP 5: ON THE STRAIGHT AND NARROW It’s easy to be fazed by skinnies if your horse tends to stop or run out. But Pippa says: Just imagine that it’s a wide fence and you’re jumping in the middle of it...read online: https://www.horseandrideruk.com//no-more-refusals-with-pi/

13.01.2022 What can I say about Chester? Well for one he is an absolutely stunning athletic TB gelding. He stands at approximately 16.2hh and at 7yo he’s a lovely age for ...the competitive rider to take on. He has been professionally schooled and is working well on the flat, jumping up to 90cm and has been XC schooling where he was super brave and absolutely loved it! Chester is a beautiful mover with a lovely jump and has the ability to be brave but careful which makes him suitable for eventing or showjumping. I know you are all probably ready to call me for your daughter and say she’s looking for her first project but Chester however is not the horse for your kids. Yes he is certainly talented but he needs a particular person to understand him and get the best out of him. Think of ‘that boy’ in high school, he was super hot, was on every sports team as the captain and was super popular. Then, when you make the move to be his girlfriend, you realise that some little minx had torn his heart apart and he is still so upset by it that he doesn’t think he is ever able love again. Well that’s Chester! Poor Chez had a traumatic experience in a barrier when racing which I think led to other traumatic experiences with people and now he finds it a little to trust anyone new. With a rider with a confident yet soft touch, this horse will give you everything and be a very nice talented performance horse but he needs someone to give him the time and patience to get him there. He deserves it and will be worth it in the end 5000 neg to the perfect home. Located Kulnura NSW

Can’t wait for him to give Pudding a run for his money in Tamworth.
