15.01.2022 We had a great time at the Desert Nats at our local track Saturday & Sunday. We were elated Saturday when we rolled out a 6.798 @ 214. 214 mph was the fastest ...the car had been before. After chasing a few little gremlins we returned Sunday with a few ideas & small, subtle changes & went through in a 6.539 @ 211 mph which was the quickest the car had been. 2 PB’s in the one weekend. We went to sleep knowing we had qualified second but the guy ahead of us had gone faster than the class allows so there was a question around top qualifier. With the 6.539 Sunday & Brontie going too fast, we were top qualifier! Another first. We had a bye in the first round, fuel was running low & we were worried about running out of clutch adjustment too. We had a good think about what we were going to do. The decision was made, we had enough fuel & clutch for the round after the bye & we tune the car to go faster but could breakout of the class limits. There are a few things we need to sort with the car & the first few seconds of the pass & we needed to put more into the car to sort it out. Technically you can’t loose a bye so if Coley got out of it at about 1000ft we would go through to the next round & hopefully work on making the start better. It worked, the data looked much better but can still be improved. A step in the right direction at the start of the pass. But, mid track the car wasn’t on all 8 cyls. Change of plugs & a couple of other small things. Next pass, the dash starts flashing & doing all sorts of wired stuff. We aren’t sure what exactly what’s going on but we do know it’s nothing mechanical & looks like it’s an electrical issue. So, now we gotta clean it all, service it, find the issue & have it all ready for the Red Centre Nats! Thank you to all the crew that have been helping out, everyone that’s helped out with parts or advice in recent times. No matter how small or insignificant the inputs been, we really do appreciate the help. We’re not going to name names but you all know who you are. Now to get ready for Father’s Day weekend!
