25.01.2022 OOOH excitement! Getting ready for the opening Friday <3

21.01.2022 After a great deal of consideration, I have decided to stand as an independent candidate for the upcoming State Election. I believe Coffs Harbour is at a cross roads in its history and the decisions we make in the next few years will have a huge impact on the future of our lifestyle and environment. These choices will set in concrete the legacy we leave for our children and those who come after us. We will be making decisions on the bypass, the Jetty Foreshore and land use t...hat will set the stage for the ongoing liveability of the City of Coffs Harbour. All levels of government will need to work together with us to ensure we do it well and achieve an outcome that fits with the aspirations of the broader community. There is more that connects us here than divides us. If we focus on those mutual values, together, we can make a difference. I believe Coffs Harbour can have it all. I believe we can have a vibrant lively city whilst maintaining the beauty and liveability of our environment. This and the people who choose to live here are our greatest assets. I have been a resident of Coffs Harbour for over 30 years, as a child, a young woman and and adult. Since 1992 I have operated a small local business and have been involved in many arts and sporting activities during this time. I have a strong connection to this community and this landscape. Bordered by the stunning backdrop of one of the most easterly ridges of the Great Dividing Range, the Solitary Islands Marine Park and National Parks, we are blessed with an abundance of clean air and water, beautiful beaches and one of the world’s most liveable climates. How lucky are we? By working together with a sustainable approach to our economic, social and cultural growth and development, we can ensure the protection of these assets for ourselves and for our children. I believe there is an opportunity at the moment for the people of Coffs Harbour to be heard. By making Coffs Harbour an independent electorate we have the opportunity to be listened to by all levels of government. It is evident the current governments have a major disconnect with the community. Right now we have the opportunity to have issues important to us addressed by an independent representative who will vote for the community not along party lines. I have never had an affiliation with a particular political party and right now as a voter I feel we have been betrayed by most. We need a member of parliament who can and will listen to local voices and who will act to achieve their collective goals. Although I have my own personal views on a wide range of issues I realise that politics is about listening to the people you are representing and navigating your way through many views and ideas to find the best solution. 21.01.2022 Another Independent is running for the seat of Coffs Harbour. Meet Ann Leonard. She grew up on the Coffs Coast and in 1992 she returned to the region to settl...e in Sawtell. Ms Leonard runs a small manufacturing business, loves her sport, and for the past 18 months has been the President of the Coffs Harbour Arts Council. So what tipped her to run? Ms Leonard spoke with Fi Poole.

15.01.2022 This information is critical. As stated in this letter, "It is important the community understand the concept design is being reviewed and is not yet finalised. It is not over until it is over. Written and Authorised by Ann Leonard, 2/151 Orlando Street, Coffs Harbour NSW 2450.

07.01.2022 This Saturday we will vote for the idependent candidate or political party who will represent Coffs Harbour for the next 4 years. The lack of true community connection, the divisive nature of our parliament and the degrading of agricultural land and water resources are at the forefront our concerns. The Pacific Highway Bypass, the commercial development of the Jetty Foreshores and high vacancy rates in the CBD and are high on the list of concerns.... The proposal for the Bypass will not deliver the outcome expected by this community. The lack of connection to existing local road networks will not relieve congestion between England’s Road and Bray St. Local traffic makes up the greatest portion of traffic using the existing highway. Before we inflict a massive and permanent scar across the Nth Boambee Valley, West Coffs and Korora Basin, consider the irreversible consequences. Consider the sound of a 110km per hour freeway through prime residential, agricultural and tourist areas. We deserve a proper Western Bypass. We deserve an 80km per hour ring road. A western coastal ridgeway bypass to reconnecting at Moonee and an 80km ring road to Park Beach Plaza and Home Base will deliver connections for all residents. I challenge that we have no alternative. The design is not complete. The land has not all been acquired. At this rate there will be no 2019 start. We can still have the bypass and the ring road we deserve. We can see the Jetty Foreshores improved for community use. We can solve the problems of planning which leave the CBD high and dry by the outward movement of many services over the years. We can work to regulate land use practices to sustain the quality of our agricultural and water resources. This Saturday your vote will decide who will work to deliver the best outcomes for the Coffs Harbour electorate. Choose carefully and remember, there is more that unites us than divides us. Ann Leonard. Sawtell.

06.01.2022 A big thank you for the generosity of spirit shown by the those who supported me at polling booths during the election. For most of you a first time experience. It was great to see, against the odds of a staunch Nationals electorate, the smiles on your faces at the end of the day. That you had, for the most part, enjoyed the experience was uplifting for me. Given the onslaught of National Party promotion and the army of volunteers for both the Nationals and the Labour/Gree...ns/Townley alliance it was a big ask. Many are still shaking their heads at the outcome however the odds of change were always going to be a stretch given our demographic. For myself personally it was a hugely positive experience. Under funded, under resourced I had hoped to initiate greater conversation regarding the proposed bypass and the NSW State governments intention to open land at the Jetty Foreshores to commercial and residential development. Both issues which will change Coffs Harbour forever. And contrary to media questioning, YES, these are "state matters" regarding our local community. Unfortunately the cacophany of sound surrounding the use of sprays on blueberry farms by The Greens/Townley coalition and taken up by the media was hard to break through. Yes there are issues with this practice but they are issues that can be addressed through negotiation around effective buffer zones and alternate products and hopefully this will occur. I will continue to look for opportunities to break through the block that just keeps insisting the route of the highway is unchangeable. With the majority of residents opposed to the current proposed route the constant barrage of "NO CHOICE" has become mind numbing for most. The fact (and it is a fact) the conversation was shut down by our community leaders at the public meeting in September last year when a 95% vote against the proposed bypass was evidenced, is a betrayal of this community by these leaders. The short term vision and the lack of understanding for the long term perception of this city by the rest of the country is unfathomable. People come here to get away from freeways and the NSW government wants to put another one right through the heart of our landscape. Where will we be when the fat lady sings?
