24.01.2022 Last weekend my family and I went canoeing on the Glenelg River. Whilst out on the water, I spotted my first ever kingfisher! I googled what variety lived around that area and the Sacred Kingfisher seemed to be the one! I also found out they are from the kookaburra family - I did not know this!!! Anyway, that was the inspo for this little guy. 24.01.2022 I made tiny Baby Yoda earrings!!!! It’s been a crazy week here - kid number 1 was in hospital, kid number 2 sprained his ankle and I ended up sick. I had not had the chance to finish these and share them until now!! These little guys are just my most favorite embroideries EVER!!! Argh!!! I have told my kids these are #thebestbabyyodaearringsintheworld. I know it’s a big call but... These little guys are made using stem stitch, buttonhole stitch, long and short stitch ...and seed stitch. I cannot wait to wear them to work next week!! I have another 2 sets in the making and I feel they will require new homes! As usual, the mini hoop frames are made by @dandelyne and you can purchase your own via @2greenzebras Argh!! 23.01.2022 I made a tiny bee!!! He is smaller that the candle wick!! I wish I could see him through my eyes as magnified as I can through zooming in on my phone!! Anyway, today’s mini embroidery is made with satin stitch, couched stem stitch and French knots! The bee is made of 5 tiny seed stitches lying side by side and 4 lazy daisy stitches for the wings!! 23.01.2022 Today has been a crazy busy day (I’ve been on a cleaning / culling rampage!) and I didn’t get a chance to share anything. So instead I thought I’d share my three boxes of embroidery threads that are all new!!!! I spent four days wrapping over 300 skeins onto bobbins!! I have about 40 more to buy and then I will have the full set!! I cannot bring myself to use them until I’ve got them all!! They look so pretty!! I’ll aim to share some mini embroideries over the weekend!! Enjoy yours!!

21.01.2022 Something totally different today!!! My family is obsessed with The Mandalorian and so the challenge was on to make Baby Yoda!! Omg I love him so much and both my kids are fighting over who should be his owner!! Grogu was my most challenging mini hoop to date in terms of me getting him to look right!! My kids happily provided me with unwanted advice and feedback! Grogu is made using stem stitch, long and short buttonhole, long and short stitch satin stitch and a few d...ozen tears and a quick unpick!! Grogu was less forgiving than my usual pieces because he had to be ‘right’! I love how he turned out though!! As you can see, he is tiny (and so cute!!). 21.01.2022 I am back at work and my daily mini embroidery shares are going to have to take a back seat for a week or so until I get back on track again!! My body is in early morning shock and I am tired way before a night owl should!! However, last night I finished this pink flamingo and tonight I framed her. The colours are not quite right in these pics as the light was not sunlight. Oh well. I absolutely love this one and I’m planning on wearing her to work tomorrow as a necklace!! This was made using stem stitch, whipped stem stitch, a French knot, bullion stitch and a few straight stitches. Did I mention that I love her? 15.01.2022 So I did a macrame workshop today!!! I was waaaayyyy out of my depth and struggled immensely BUT I bloody did it!!! My darling, non crafty 16 year old daughter had a go too and she made her plant holder before I had even finished the first section!!! So proud (and jealous too!!)

15.01.2022 It’s amazing how different colours are in the the sunlight! This is actually take 2 of a blanket I’m making as I felt the edge of the blanket was just too tight! So I undid it all and started again!! Sadly, this project has come to a halt while I wait for the rest of my wool order. Bugger!!! However, iso son approves!!! I tried to get him to let me do random row colours but he wants it in repeat colours. Bugger again!! Oh well, I might go do some gardening!! I’ve made the first part of the pattern - the Monivae College logo and I’ve transferred the design using a very complicated light box system - sticky tape and my son’s bedroom window!! 11.01.2022 I was on a mission over the holidays to find some velvet that would be as close as possible to the original Monivae Cadet sash that my granny made!! I went all over Melbourne only to find velvet that was stretchy. Then someone told me to try Frankie Stuart...so I jumped on a train and headed out to Glenferrie. I walked into The House of Frankie Stuart and found exactly what I was after!!! They even had some gold embellishments. I am not entirely convinced about the gold trim in the first picture- I feel it’s a bit too green but it was very hard to find what I wanted so I grabbed it anyway!!! 09.01.2022 So I started a bit of preservation work on the cadet band sash tonight. The original gold wrapped cord is extremely worn and in parts is only the center thread left. Part of the front gold cord had been pulled undone but it’s back on now!!! In other embroidery news, I was given a heap of my Granny’s embroidery items when she died. I went through part of it tonight and I found the original gold wrapped cord!! 08.01.2022 In 1963, my grandmother made this sash for the Monivae College Cadet Unit to be worn by the Drum Major in the band. This year was its 55th year on parade and it’s quite worn now. My daughter is in the Cadet Band this year and I’m now very excited because the sash is at my place ready for some much needed repair work!!
